🚨🚑SOS Otto needs your help‼️He is currently being rushed to the Veterinary Surgical Specialists (VSS) 24 ER Division in Tustin, CA for emergency vet care after chewing through a sore on top of his rear right foot into a bloody mess. His foot is wrapped up now.

You may remember when Master Wolf with Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc. pulled Otto ID on 5/20/25 when he was 5 months old from the San Pedro LA City Harbor Shelter. His prior owner had been contacted but couldn't be bothered to pick him up or get help. Tim McVicker took him straight to the VSS where tests were done and the surgical team determined that surgery would not necessarily help him as he was healing from his injuries caused by a car accident that occurred on Mother's Day 2025. That’s where all his records are at.

Today, his wonderful foster Brittany left to go to the store for 30 minutes and when she returned Otto had chewed his foot pretty badly and was bloody requiring in her opinion ER vet care. She was feeling pretty bad and I had to convince her it was NOT her fault. Otto has been continuously having sores and she been diligently cleaning them and wrapping them.

On July 19, 2025, Elizabeth McVicker accompanied Otto and his foster Brittany to a follow up with surgical specialist Dr. Keeshan at VSS who noted that Otto buckled with every 3rd step and had a blister from the ortho boot he was wearing on the rear right foot, and Dr. Keeshan wanted to see him again in the first week of September TO SEE IF AMPUTATION WOULD BE NEEDED Otto has no sensation in that foot.

What Otto is experiencing is eerily similar to what happened to Saint (fka Rocket ID #22-06889) I pulled form the SEAACA Downey shelter back in February 2022 when he was 3 months old. Back then we consulted with a vet neurologist regarding his foot. He was born with a leg deformity and one day he chewed it to the bone and the decision was made to amputate.

Brittany is madly in love with Otto and he’s not going anywhere. But we still need to get him taken care of medically to give him the best possible chance for a healthy and long life going forward.

Shadow Husky Rescue wants to thank Thunder and Kat Shaw Executive Director of Howard Gardner Community Charter School, for the “SHOUT OUT” yesterday which was published to UTube. One of the most amazing videos of 2025 is this watching alumnus therapy husky mix Thunder who at only 7 months old brought in a complete turn around at the school with students earning “Thunder passes.” Students face day to day challenges with life stories including insecurities and homelessness.

Also this year the school is doing a building campaign which will also include a campaign for a dog house for Thunder. It is so important that we help Thunder with his work Please consider donating to the campaign.

Since the school has been wanting a new building, it was only fair to get Thunder a doghouse too. The children have been submitting colorful plans for Thunder’s contest, and there is a video on TikTok with the designs. Anyone can write to Thunder and he WILL answer!
