Our mission at Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc., is to rescue huskies that are displaced, unwanted, abused, lost, abandoned or scheduled for euthanasia and provide them with a second chance at life by finding them permanent homes.

🌈💔Being a Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc. sanctuary dog means each husky and honorary husky knows they will stay here loved and cared for the rest of their days. A few weeks ago after dinner service at the sanctuary, Master Wolf found Skye (formerly known as Snowy) non responsive near the doggy door in the kitchen. Sadly he passed away at 10 years’ old on his own terms with no known medical concerns. Shadow Husky Rescue saved his life on his last day from the Hesperia animal shelter ID on 10/16/2018 after a 2 month stay. I drove him back then to Tucson Arizona to Carla Donau who ran Run Siberian Husky Rescue and adopted him into her own pack. Carla ended up adopting 4 other SHR huskies and another to her blind friend. When Carla passed away, all 10 of her huskies came to live at the Hotel California🌴including Skye in May 2024 and 2 other surviving SHR huskies. We called him Skye “1” because he was one of 3 Skyes at the sanctuary. He was happy go lucky, enjoyed pack life to the fullest with friends to romp with, home cooked meals, clean bedding and his needs cared for. There is no real timeline for handling grief. We experience it with the whole pack that miss him deeply. The newbies help ease our suffering as we transfer our energy toward helping welcome them. Skye has been cremated. When the time comes the Donau huskies’ ashes will be sent to a pet cemetary in Tucson to be with the rest of her pack. I am confident that I will see Skye again in heaven until then I have committed my life’s long work to helping huskies just like him find happiness and inner peace. 🌈😇🐕🐾🤍🪽

We WANT to develop networking relationships with YOU, but can you not wait until the last minute, help us find FOSTERS, raise funds +/collect pledges to perform rescue work, pay operational expenses OR are you going to just leave us in the dust⁉️💨🌬️🌪️🌋That’s not what we signed up for when we created a PUBLIC benefit charity.😓

We are working our asses off behind the scenes NON-STOP daily 18 hours individually for SHR dogs relinquishing our own livelihoods +careers. Our devices ding EVERY MINUTE by people we do not even know🤔🤷🏻‍♀️ We are 1000% committed to + love all dogs we rescue for life. We are just 2 people though.😫

To the networkers we truly care about let’s openly communicate to help each other obtain the best outcome for each rescued dog so we can pull more dogs for YOUR network instead of playing hot potato 🥔🙅🏻‍♀️🙅🏼‍♂️🚫We mean it!

We also need volunteers who aren’t searching for a quid pro quo (helping the huskies should be enough), operational funds, veterinary expenses paid simultaneously when services are rendered (not on credit), fosters +adopters to keep our operations afloat.

🌝🌺MOONFLOWER🌺🌝 who is blind went through a tough spot last week. We were rushing to get her spayed before the expiration of her 3-year rabies vaccination certificate which was yesterday. Long story short we canceled her 1st spay with the SD Humane Society Veterinary Clinic and opted for a spay at a private vet in San Diego the name which will remain unmentioned, but when we got there on Thursday, we were 8 minutes late after a more than 2 hour drive and presented with an estimate for pyometra of $2400. Moonflower does not have Pyometra! We ended up leaving and taking her to our regular vet at Angel Care in Murietta for her vaccine yesterday. Then she got rewarded at Jack in the Box😋 We have been monitoring her today. She’s been resting doing well. The last time she had a rabies’ vaccination was 3 years ago a few weeks after we pulled her from the San Bernardino shelter ID . We thought she had gotten over her Giardia + Kennel cough when she received her rabies vaccination back then, but she was also on other medications + she ended up having a idiopathic seizure 48 hours afterwards requiring her to be rushed to Access Specialty Hospital so we have been toying with the idea of getting a rabies vaccination waiver, and a spay waiver, after weighing the risks we’ve decided to proceed with both the vaccine which is now done and the spay which is scheduled for next Thursday. Even as rescuers we go through periods of stress and indecisiveness always wanting the best for our babies the risks of pyometra, mammary gland tumors, and just the inconvenience of having to endure menstruation helped us steer toward the decision to finally spay. We have been trying to get her in the perfect bill of health since August 1 when we started the process of getting her back from her prior adopter who surrendered her to us. After numerous blood tests, a urinalysis, abdominal ultrasound, exams and supplements, including Denamarin and a prescription for Clavamox, combined with Moonflower living now permanently at the Shadow Husky Rescue sanctuary, she is now thriving. Please keep her in your prayers through the rest of this coming week and stay tuned for updates🌝🌺🩷

🥹💓😘SKYE UPDATE: Skye fka Hope ID #26-12672 rescued 5/26/26 by Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc. from the Seaaca Shelter on 6/25 with the help of Sarah Elizabeth- SEAACA shelter volunteer 🐶 failed 2 medical fosters with others dogs and ended up at the sanctuary with many dogs! She’s extremely sweet craves attention but feisty. At separate intervals (7/15/26 + 9/19/26), Dr. Keeshan at Veterinary Surgical Specialists performed 2 TPLO Tibial Plateau Leveling Osteotomies with Arthroscopy on each of her legs. Both sides were severely atrophied from ruptured cruciate tears that caused her severe pain + chronic bent leg deformities 🦵 🦵 with her femurs🦴 🦴 falling, creating an emergency situation for her unable to extend her legs normally. TPLO involved cutting bone rotating the top section of her shinbones to flatten the slopes +inserting medical grade titanium plates +screws into the bones to change the direction of how she walked. Surgery was needed to prevent further cartilage damage, atrophy +arthritis. Dr. Keeshan found the slopes of her injuries so steep with her ligaments so torn that she no longer had any meniscus. She is getting Adequan injections to help protect her existing joint cartilage and reduce inflammation. Confinement and leash walks (no running jumping or playing) for 12 weeks after surgery give Skye a good chance of recovery. She’ll have her re-check with X-Rays 🩻 to monitor bone healing on 11/9/26 at the 9-week mark after her last surgery. We were not sure of her age so we pitched in for an age test with Embark Dog DNA Test with Embark Vet turns out she’s a full grown 4 year 4 month adult who had been suffering long term prior to her surgeries. We are so grateful to the many individuals and Save Our Siberians - Siberspace Rescue Fund who helped make them happen. Skye should be ready for adoption by year end❣️🐾

🎆While Aerosmith was playing at the Hollywood Bowl tonight Wendy was discharged from Veterinary Surgical Specialist after her surgery on both knees to fix her luxating patellas to her amazing foster Val | 🏝️OC tonight❣️ Even though Wendy was groggy she lovingly went right up to Valerie at the hospital 🏥 Shadow Husky Rescue, Inc. rescued Wendy on 9/11/26 out of the SEACCA shelter with the help of Sarah - SEAACA shelter volunteer 🐶. Valerie had everything all ready for Wendy at her home in Huntington Beach🏝️including the non slip carpets she purchased for her and even had one of Aerosmith’s greatest 🎼DUDE LOOK LIKE A LADY🎵 blasting in her home. Last time I was over there 🎶Billy Joel was playing great music ~much different from my normal🥹 What ambiance! Wendy is going to have a great recovery! ❤️‍🩹 Thanks to everyone who has followed her journey from the beginning There’s much more to come including a DNA reveal and we still have her fundraiser going in case you are able to make a donation. 🙏🏽🩷🩷🩷

⛑️10/28 7:15PM Dr. Keeshan just called to say that Wendy did well under anesthesia her spay went well but as expected the rest of the surgery was challenging her joints stifles are not the best developed her patella pops back forth on both sides and it was worse to the lateral direction so he tightened up her joint capsule on that side and deepened the groove of her knee for the patella to track as deep as possible where it’s supposed to be. The focus is to allow the soft tissue and groove to heal and to be as immobilized as possible with medications to help keep her calm and quiet. She may need a further surgery down the road depending on how well she adjusts. He will release her in one or two days and then her recovery will start. We will be with Wendy every step of the way. Updates will continue❣️
❤️‍🩹CAN WE START A PRAYER CHAIN for Wendy the 8 month old from SEAACA (pulled by SHR on 9/11/26) who was born with a disability popping knee caps⁉️She’ll be having surgery Wednesday 10/28/26 at Veterinary Surgical Specialist on both knees for bilateral patella luxation❣️❣️Board Certified Specialist Dr. Keeshan will be her surgeon. We love Wendy soooooo much! She has the kindest personality and loves to be around her foster Val | 🏝️OC and other dogs. Our wish is to give her a chance to play like huskies play and walk like a typical dog for the rest of her life. Congratulations to Shadow Husky Rescue alums mom & daughter ♥️Momo and Yuko♥️ for winning the Shadow Husky Rescue: “Rescued Is My Favorite Husky, Malamute & Mixed Northern Breed” 8th Annual Calendar Photo Fundraising Contest.🎉🎉Congratulations to all 26 entrants who will have their photo in the 2027 calendar!🎈🎈I am so excited to get it ready for publication!
We raised $9,195 which included a $500 donation paid off the platform. With fees deducted ($994.75 GoGo contest fees, $239.51 Stripe fees, $357.76 Meta, and $10.44 PayPal fees) WE NET $7,592.54 IN THE CONTEST.🌟✨🌠
We tallied up the YTD from all sources donations on recent medical dogs with unpaid balances:
✔️$2,242 Moonflower: Her unpaid balance for all her medical at 2 vets (ultrasound, bloodwork, urinalysis and exam) is $1,559 and the low end of her spay on 10/29/26 will be $684. We will still need to go to the eye vet once the spay is done.
✔️$2,588 Tucker: His unpaid balance for all of his medical (6 night hospitalization, blood work, 3 view chest Xrays) is $2,188.30 and the low end of his neuter on 11/2/26 will be $400.
✔️$2,960 Herman: His unpaid balance from his exam last week is $1,160, and the low end of the estimate for his perianal gland removal plus tooth extraction and removal of mass under is eye on 11/10/2026 is $1,800.
✔️Maxi’s unpaid balance for her UTI and exam last week is $873. She’s doing much better.
✔️ $1,512 (low end) to $2,987 (high end) Wendy: A $7,000 deposit was paid today on Care Credit for Wendy’s surgery which is tomorrow 10/28/2026. Her estimate is $7,725 - $8,729.
The total of the above is $10,176 using low end for Wendy’s surgery. After taking into account the net funds raised in the contest we are still short by $2,584 - $4,059 (depending on final cost of Wendy’s surgery).
