Does anybody recognize this dog? This was the callout I gave yesterday on Facebook which tends to be more local outreach in this area…..
This dog started walking up our driveway which is very far off the country road as if he was “home“ …we are hoping that it was a dog that was owned by a loving family and is lost his way so we are reaching out to local rescues, vet offices, facebook groups, etc to see if anybody recognizes him and if they will claim him ….
He is a VERY large 4 -5 year old neutered lab mix male. I am praying he is not a product of the unfortunate reality of rescues….With “ notority”, we also get the brunt of reality …..This may be a one off and hopefully not the start of us being a dumping ground for unwanted dogs…. we are not staffed or prepared for that at this time ….
Dogs are dumped at vets offices at shelters at shopping centers, and at rescues all over the country … shelters are overcrowded, euthanizing dogs daily and rescues are desperately trying to help in any way they can … Money is just a part of the solution but it’s not everything ….
A “ friend “recently said to me …. “but Jenn, you would never have had this much “attention” without this recent tragic event”……
But what no one really understands and the people that are not in the non profit business of saving animals is this…..the “attention”….. the attention can bring monetary support but is also brings crisis of animal rescue right to your door step …. that also comes with “notoriety” …..this is side of rescue that people that are not in the day to day grind of it do not understand ….there is an over abundance and overpopulation of dogs that are getting dumped …. everywhere …. we now may have been added to that list …. We will do what we can and are able to help this desperate need that is a reality across the county …. we will take in this big yellow dog until we find his owner or we find him his second chance ….
Now, back to business …….does anyone recognize this dog? please spread the word …
