Cocoa, FL — October 3, 2025 — The Brevard Humane Society is proud to announce the groundbreaking ceremony for the long-awaited renovation of its Cocoa Intake and Adoption Center. The ceremony will take place on Friday, October 24, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. EST at the Cocoa campus, located at 1020 Cox Road, Cocoa, FL 32926.



Brevard Humane Society’s has been a cornerstone of animal welfare in Brevard County since 1952. In 1962, the primary focus was to “warehouse” as many homeless pets as possible—a reflection of an era with fewer resources and a different approach to animal care.



“Times have changed,” said Theresa Clifton, Executive Director of the Brevard Humane Society. “For nearly two decades, we’ve shifted our mission to providing homeless pets with a safe, secure, and caring environment as they wait for their fur-ever homes. Our current 60+ year-old facility simply can no longer meet the standards these animals deserve. This renovation is about creating a brighter, healthier future for them.”
