Hours of operation 9:00 am -1:00 pm and 6:30 pm -8:30 pm daily (365 days a year - unless otherwise posted)

There are 17 boarding kennels available (12 with in/out runs), 22 SPCA kennels including a separate mom & pups room and quarantine area, cat boarding available upstairs. We also board small animals eg: cats, rabbit

s, guinea pigs, birds, fish & reptiles. There is also a U- Bathe ,we supply towels, shampoo and blow dryer

Indie is a sweet and loyal female shepherd cross, born right here at the Hinton SPCA on July 25, 2024. she was adopted out as a puppy, but the adoption turned out to be incompatible and she was returned to us February 22, 2025. She’s a friendly girl with an exuberance for life! She already knows how to sit and shake paws like a pro.

Indie’s future forever home would have to help her with her leash manners. She is a smart girl so with consistency, she will learn quickly.

When it comes to children Indie would do best in a home with children who are 12 and older. Indie does well with other dogs when introduced properly. She has no history with cats.

She adores human companionship and would make a wonderful adventure buddy or snuggle partner. Come meet Indie and let her show you just how much love she has to give!

Mousey is a sweet young tabby girl who has already had quite the adventure in her short life. She was found abandoned on an acreage in Yellowhead County and was brought to us so she could finally have a safe place to land.
Understandably, Mousey was a little unsure of people at first. She can be shy when meeting new faces, but once she realizes she’s safe, that shy exterior starts to melt away and her sweet personality begins to shine through.
Born in 2025, Mousey is still a young lady with so much life ahead of her. She’s ready to leave her rough beginning behind and start the next chapter with someone who will give her the patience, love, and security she deserves.
Give Mousey a little time to warm up, and you’ll get to watch this once-scared little girl discover just how wonderful life can be. She’s ready for a forever home where she can grow, play, and be loved.

Celeste has an incredible backstory. A couple was driving when they noticed a bear chasing a dog, they pulled over opened their hatchback, the dog jumped in, knowing that the a safe haven had just been provided, that dog is our beautiful girl Celeste. ​
​​​
Celeste was brought to Jasper Bylaw and was unclaimed she was then transferred to the Hinton SPCA.
​​
Celeste is an active and bright girl. She knows sit, shake, lay down and drop it. Her favorite activities are fetch and going for walks. She walks well on leash but is reactive when she sees other dogs.
​
An experienced owner, (especially with Shepherds) would be the ideal owner for our girl.
​
Celeste loves to snuggle. ​
​​
She truly has a heart of gold. We are so grateful to the couple that stopped to help her and are excited to see where the next chapter of her story goes.

Shadow got his name because he is the type of dog that is always by your side! ​He was an owner surrender due to no fault of his own.
​​
Shadow's pervious owners describe him as easy going and friendly. He has experience living with child.

Shadow loves physical affection, pets, belly rubs, ear scratches, it's all amazing to him!

Shadow walks well on leash, needing corrections but gets back on track quickly. He knows sit, stay and has good recall.

In August of 2021,Tony was transferred to us via Second Chance Animal Rescue. He was living in Onion Lake in an enclosed deck. Tony was adopted from the Hinton SPCA in 2023 and was surrendered due to no fault of his own in July of 2026.
He is excited to meet new people but sometimes needs to be reminded of his manners, occasionally jumping up.​
​​
Tony is partially blind but he never lets that stop him, enjoying walks and playtime with his favorite people. He can sometimes have a hard time with stairs so a little extra patience is always appreciated.

Tony is well beloved by staff for his goofy personality and friendly spirit. If you are feeling down a visit to Tony is just what you need he has a way of making you feel like the best person in the world!

🐾💙 A HUGE THANK YOU TO BUTTAZONI CONTRACTING! 💙🐾

We are incredibly excited to share that Buttazoni Contracting has generously donated $500 toward swim time for dogs from our local Hinton and District SPCA! 🥹🐶🌊

Their donation will give dogs who are still waiting for their forever homes the chance to get out of the shelter, have some fun, experience something new, and enjoy some one-on-one enrichment at Hydro Hounds.

For some of these dogs, a trip to the pool might mean burning off some extra energy. For others, it might be building confidence, trying something completely new, or simply getting to spend an afternoon being spoiled and having FUN.

$500 worth of swim time means a whole lot of happy dog days, and we are so grateful to Buttazoni Contracting for choosing to do something so special for dogs in our community.

From all of us at Hydro Hounds — and especially the pups who are going to get to enjoy this amazing gift —
