We are so excited to have the esteemed Deborah Spence judging for the August 10th Serious Fun Horse Show held at Maywood Stables! Entries are due in just over a week…

Meet your judge!
Deborah began her riding career on the East coast riding hunter ponies and moved on to hunt seat equitation and jumpers. During college she became more involved with eventing and dressage. She operated an eventing and dressage facility in southern California for 35 years, then moved to Washington state and for 20 years trained out of her facility in Onalaska, WA. Deborah earned her USDF Bronze, Silver and Gold medals on horses she owned and exclusively
trained from "kindergarten" to Grand Prix. She holds "R" Dressage and "R" Western Dressage USEF judging cards.
She believes that horses and riders should have well rounded "educations" and that basic horsemanship and the principles of dressage will help riders communicate with, be empathetic with and enjoy their horses. Regardless of the facet of the sport the rider and horse choose (trail riding, western dressage, jumping, eventing, competitive dressage, endurance, gaming, pleasure riding) the goal is as the United States Pony Club once said is "A Happy Child On A Happy Horse" but grown ups get to play too.

The 2nd show of the Serious Fun Show Series is coming up on August 10th with judge extraordinaire Deborah Spence. Don’t forget to send in your entries well before the deadline, it really helps the show secretary to have them early! Please note that shows 2 and 3 are WDAA Recognized but are still open to all riders. You must be a member for points to count for Western Dressage Association of America (WDAA) and Pacific Northwest Western Dressage Association (PNWWDA).
You do not need to be a member to participate in the Serious Fun Western Dressage High Score & Championship! Also, by request, we have added an in-hand trail class! The June 8th Serious Fun Show Ride Times & Class Schedule at Maywood Stables are now uploaded. It is going to be toasty so we will start early at 8AM, will have the misters going, and cool drinks available. We are looking forward to seeing everyone!

Arena renovation is underway and will be done and ready for you to ride in for the Serious fun schooling horse show series! Don't forget to get your test entries in by tomorrow! Afternoon classes can be added same day! The arena has been laser leveled, graded and new footing featuring Levitore! Dust Halt has also been added to both arenas. We are excited to have you come ride 😀

Next weekend’s Western Dressage Workshop will be focused on how to prepare for showing in preparation of the June 8th Schooling show held at Maywood Stables. New to showing? Dont know where to start? Nervous? We can help! Subjects to include: Choosing your tests, warm up arena strategies, filling out those entry forms, understanding scores, and calming any show nerves you may have. Showing is fun and we hope you will join this great group of positive riders to learn more!
