Duck! What are we to do with a dog named Duck? This handsome boy is around 3 months old and looks to be a golden/pyrenees mix. While his exact DNA is unknown, one thing is for sure — he’s 100% sweetheart! Duck is playful, social, and loves his peeps! He can be a little nervous meeting new dogs but he warms up quickly! Duck isn’t a fan of too much alone time so his forever home should have humans around often and a fenced in back yard.

Meet Buster!
Buster is a 5 year old, 15 lbs, Chihuahua mix (Pug if we had to guess). This handsome guy is a cat trapped inside a dogs body. Let’s break down Buster by species, shall we?
The cat traits: Loves pets, cuddling, and affection from a select few that have earned his trust. Couches are clearly for his pleasure, as is your bed. You can have the counters — they’re of no interest to him. Think you’re in charge? You’re wrong. He is. Unless you have treats, then his wish is your command. Sunbathing by the window — THIS is the cat’s meow. Free roam trustworthy – as most cats are. Unsolicited affection? Well, that’s a big fat nope. Are you a love bomber? šŸ‘ŽšŸ»Also not gonna work. Buster is looking for a savvy human big on boundaries and mutual respect.
The dog traits: Crate trained – but remember his cat like tendencies and know this may take bribery. House trained (not in a stupid box like the feline counter parts). Leashed walks are fun! Excellent in a car!

Buster is a man with a little baggage and his forever human should be understanding of his past. His prior owner died and he found himself alone and super scared in a loud and busy shelter. He traveled to CO and has been adjusting to his new life in foster care after his world was turned upside down. Things like eye contact and unsolicited attention from strangers make him feel threatened and very afraid. He’s big into body autonomy which is contrary to his adorable pint sized appearance. Buster’s kryptonite is treats and he is so amazing with positive counter conditioning because of it. He’s a quick study and will gladly allow you to grow from foe to friend with the assistance of some soul food. Buster is good with dogs and happily shares his home with canine friends. He’d also be happy being the kind of the castle.

Meet Biscuit — a friendly little guy with a big silly personality and an endless love for fun! This sweet, 2 year old pup is always ready to make you laugh with his goofy antics and playful charm.

One of Biscuit’s favorite things is picking out new toys and proudly carrying them around like treasured prizes.

Biscuit gets along wonderfully with both dogs and cats, making him a great addition to just about any home. He’s currently working on perfecting his potty training, but he’s already doing amazing with crate training and is very respectful in the home — no destructive behavior here!

If you’re looking for a happy, lovable companion who will keep you smiling and bring lots of joy into your life, Biscuit might just be your perfect match. Biscuit is around 13 lbs.

We’d like to introduce you to the modern day Beatles! These adorable pups are almost 8 weeks old and will be ready to go to their new homes the first week of June. This all male litter of 4 are Basset Hound/Dachshund mixes and they’re as cute as their ears are long. Their mama, Darla, is 25 lbs on the nose and we suspect they will mature around that same size. Ringo is the shy guy of the group and would love a canine companion in his new home.

Sweet mama Darla is only about a year old. She came to us heavily pregnant and whelped 4 adorable puppies! Now, it’s her turn to find her forever home. Darla is a very sweet, mild-mannered, girl that’s great with dogs, cats, and kiddos. She came to us as an owner surrender due to her family having too many animals. Her prior family reports lots of grandchildren that Darla loved – we’ve seen the same type of adoration from her since she’s been in our care, as well. Darla doesn’t have much experience on a leash, so ideally she can find a forever home with a yard and humans that are home often to help her with her house training. She seems fine to be fine with crating and is affection and treat motivated so she will certainly be a quick study! Darla weighs right at 25 lbs. She will be ready to go to her forever home the first week of June!

Hershey is just a girl waiting in the world for someone to notice her! We picked this sweet girl off of a high-volume shelter’s dreaded ā€˜EU list.’ Hershey had already been extended for good behavior once, but they ran out of space and she found herself at risk again. That’s when it happened – someone noticed her. Now she’s here, in CO, awaiting her forever home. Hershey has an endearing sweet soul, big (ok huge) ears, a cute curly tail and little white ankle socks. She’s packed full of love for her humans and canine friends alike. Hershey gives hugs and loves all the snuggles. She takes treats nicely and is overall a quiet dog who rarely barks. She’s smart, attentive, agile, and fit. She walks decently on a leash, rides well in a car, is kennel trained, and sleeps through the night. She has been doing beautifully in the routine of a foster home and being around other dogs.

Hershey is a healthy girl and is around 2 years old. She’s medium in stature and when she fills out should be 40-45 pounds at ideal weight. Hershey requests a fenced yard to accommodate her entertaining zoomies and a family that promises to never let her be hungry or forgotten again. In return, she promises to give them her whole heart in return.

Luigi is one of those dogs that you just can’t get enough of! He’s lovable, friendly, perfectly pint-sized at only 35-40 lbs, and he’s just so dang happy! Luigi joined MHCR in November of 2025. Why in the heck is he just NOW preparing to find his forever home? Well, let’s just say he needed a little work done. Luigi had a horrible hip on one side due to prior unknown injury and needed an FHO. He recovered absolutely beautifully from that surgery and is medically cleared on that side. His OTHER back leg had a really badly luxated patella and he needed a 2nd surgery to get that leg all dialed in. He’s 6 weeks into his recovery and is expected to be cleared in early June. We’d love for him to be able to transition directly into his forever home when that happens! At only around 2 years old, Luigi is still very playful and puppy-like in nature. He ADORES children and would thrive in a home with a family of his own. He’s incredibly dog friendly and we feel it’s an absolute must for him to have at least one canine companion in his new home. Luigi has been house trained and crate trained in his foster home and we expect him to demonstrate the same in his adoptive home when he learns the routine. We aren’t entirely sure what his breed mix is, but he’s built like a small boxer (longer, skinny legs, deep chest) with the head of a Frenchie. He definitely has Boxer/Frenchie vibes and would be a fun addition to either breed enthusiast…plus he can breathe properly which makes him a great adventure buddy!
