Mile High Canine Rescue, Inc. is a 501(c)3, Colorado non-profit organization established in 2019. We are 100% volunteer and foster home based.

MHCR aims to provide homeless dogs a loving home to grow and learn in until a suitable forever home is found.

Johnny Ringo is a joyful little guy. He switches from snuggle bug to full-speed zoomies faster than you’d ever think possible. Under a year old, Johnny is the perfect combination of playful, affectionate, sweet, and downright handsome. His gorgeous red fur and adorable widow’s peak make him impossible to resist, but it’s his loving personality that will really steal your heart.
Johnny loves people and other dogs—he’s a social butterfly with rockets for feet. He’s also very food motivated, which makes training fun and rewarding. He already knows how to sit and is eager to learn more. When playtime is over, Johnny is more than happy to curl up on your lap or beside you and be your personal snuggle bug. He is crate trained and sleeps quietly in his crate at night. He is also house-trained when his routine is kept, so consistency will help him be a good boy. Johnny Ringo is a little dog with a BIG personality. He’s loving, playful, cuddly, and ready to bring a whole lot of happiness into his forever home.

Socks is a 1-year-old, 50-ish lbs, Lab/Shepherd mix who is learning that maybe—just maybe—people can be pretty great.

When Socks first arrived, he was terrified. He flinched at touch, avoided eye contact, kept his tail tucked, cowered, and tried to disappear into the smallest hiding spot he could find. He was skinny, shut down, and landed on the euthanasia list at a high-volume shelter simply because his fear made it so hard for him to cope.

We couldn’t let that be the end of his story.

Fast forward, and Socks is discovering just how good life can be. He’s incredibly sweet, gentle, smart, and polite. He loves other dogs and really benefits from their confidence and guidance. He keeps his crate clean, appreciates his blankies and meals, and absolutely lights up when you tell him he’s a good boy. ❤️

Most importantly, Socks is learning to trust. He now takes treats from human hands, enjoys being touched, and is even starting to seek out affection. Watching him come out of his shell has been pretty darn amazing.

Socks isn’t a social butterfly—yet. He needs a patient family willing to give him time, routine, predictability, and a calm environment while he continues to realize that the world isn’t such a scary place. In return, you’ll get a very special boy who is ready to discover just how much love he has to give.

An established, confident dog in the home is preferred because Socks truly thrives with canine guidance.

Socks has already survived the worst. Now he deserves the very best. ❤️

Benito is a 2-year-old Frenchie with a HUGE heart, a silly personality, and some seriously impressive athletic abilities. This little guy has mad hops and can practically launch himself to hip height! Who needs a ladder when you have Benito? 😂

He’s a total love bug who wants to be wherever his favorite human is. He loves his toys, going for walks, and keeping an eye on the neighborhood through the front window. He’s also a curious little explorer who may attempt to climb things for a better view or investigate what’s on the other side of a fence.

Benito is super friendly with other dogs, does well in his crate while his humans are at work and overnight, and is learning to respect the resident cat’s personal space. He’s also working on his leash manners and getting better about not pulling on walks.

If you’re a Frenchie savvy home looking for a devoted, goofy little shadow with a big personality, a huge heart, and the jumping abilities of a tiny kangaroo, Benito is ready to hop right into your life! ❤️

🍪 Meet Cookie! 🍪

Six months old, 22 pounds, and a certified gargoyle! 😂 Cookie is a French Bulldog/Staffie mix with a playful personality and a face that only a Frenchie mix could pull off.

Cookie loves playing with other dogs, walks nicely on a leash, and settles down quietly in her crate at night. She’s still working on her house training, so her new family will need to be patient as she figures out the whole indoor plumbing situation. 😉

If you’re looking for a fun-loving little sidekick with a big personality, adorable wrinkles, and world-class gargoyle skills, Cookie might just be your girl!

Beefthoven? Yeah… that was his government name, but we all knew that wasn’t going to fly. 😂 So Beefy it is!

This handsome golden mix is as cute as can be, with gorgeous eyes that will have you saying “yes” to just about anything. 👀💛 He’s got that perfect medium-energy vibe — down for some fun and adventure, but not trying to run a marathon every day.

✨ A little about Beefy: 🐶 Dog-friendly and happy to make some furry friends! 🏡 Potty-trained on a schedule ✔️ Kennel-trained ✔️ (He may have a few loud opinions during the first few minutes, but he settles in!) Walks pretty well on a leash, though seeing other pups can get him a little TOO excited. He’s working on it tho. 💛 Did we mention he’s a lover of all toys?🧸

Beefy is still a puppy, which means he’s learning how to be the best boy he can be. He’ll need a family willing to work on basic obedience, provide consistent guidance, set boundaries, and help him learn that jumping up isn’t always the best way to say hello. 😉 He has so much potential and just needs someone willing to help him get there!

Henry is a friendly, social little guy who loves making new friends, especially the four-legged kind. Meet Flo! 💛 This sweet, smiley girl is ready to be someone’s new best friend!

Flo is the kind of dog who makes herself right at home and fits into your life like she’s always been there. She’s happy, playful, affectionate, and has wonderful house manners. She’s already house trained, so you can skip the puppy chaos and get straight to the good stuff!

She’s a social butterfly who loves people and gets along great with other dogs and kids. She’d be perfectly happy with a canine sibling, but she’s just as content being your one and only. Whether you’re hanging out at home or grabbing a drink on a dog-friendly patio, Flo would love nothing more than to be by your side.

At around 59 lbs, Flo is working on getting her girlish figure back and has already made progress! She’s got a little extra love to give, and an even bigger heart to go with it. ❤️

Flo previously had a loving home, but when her owner fell on hard times, he made the difficult decision to give her a chance at the stable, happy life she deserves.

This lovely lady is ready for her next chapter. She’s just looking for someone to love, a cozy place to call home, and a cat-free household.

Bonny is an 8 month old, 35 lbs (still growing) pittie mix pup who was found as a skinny, unclaimed, stray in Texas. She was taken to a high volume shelter where she was terrified and euthanasia listed after 10 days. She spent most of her time trembling, cowering, and trying to make herself invisible.

We are so glad we could help so her story didn’t end there. Despite her tough start in life, she is a sweet, resilient, girl who is happy to be alive. Bonny is healthy and loves people and other dogs. She is doing great with crate training and having a routine in a foster home. She is a timid, submissive girl but is becoming braver and more playful all the time. Bonny is looking for a forever family she can count on that will be patient with her as she keeps coming out of her shell and realizing she doesn’t need to be scared anymore. She also would like a good amount of play time and activity every day and will thrive on a family that is willing to work on training with her as she has never had that before.
