Hey there Delilah! This precious, 9 month old, girl has been through some stuff at her young age, but you’d never know it by her personality. She’s a friendly, resilient girl that does great with kids and other dogs. She would love to engage in play, but if the other dog isn’t feeling it, she’s happy to entertain herself elsewhere. Delilah was confiscated by a local CO shelter after someone was observed hitting her with a cane. Her leg suffered multiple injuries and was amputated. Delilah has recovered beautifully and is learning about life on three legs. She gets around well — particularly on carpeted surfaces and grass. Hardwood floors are harder for her to manage and clearly a lot of stairs wouldn’t be the greatest for her long-term. Delilah is doing very well with her house and crate training (although she does protest a bit at first). The couch is her throne and it’s a privilege, ehh actually a right, she demands in her new home. She’s obviously a labby girl, but she doesn’t have the high and destructive energy the breed has been known for.

Griffin, Greg and Gene: the boys of our 8 week old, Chihuahua/Yorkie/Schnauzer mix litter that came to MHCR after they were abandoned at a high intake shelter in Texas. The pups were orphans at only a few weeks old. They’ve been raised with dogs, cats, and kiddos – helping to ensure they are nice, well-rounded little pups.

Sweet Gina is a 1.5 year old pit mix. She was all set to be the luckiest girl in the world in the fall of 2024. She was a young pup, weighing 11 lbs at only 2 months old. She was adopted and just certain her new family would spoil her rotten. Unfortunately, that’s not at all what happened. Gina was confiscated a year later after animal control was called to her home. They found she was living in horrid conditions, suffering from extreme neglect. In a years time, she had only gained 15 lbs — weighing just 24 lbs upon her re-entry to the shelter now at a year and a half old. What’s worse? Now she was facing euthanasia.

We just couldn’t let this be the end of Gina’s story and luckily one of our foster homes agreed! Gina packed her bags and headed to Colorado. We are happy to report, she now weighs 42 lbs. She’s happy, she’s playful, and although she can be a little shy, she has started to regain her trust in humans. Gina’s foster mom says she’s great with other dogs, uses the doggie door, and has found her crate to be a safe haven once again and no longer a dismal place of fear and despair. In fact, she says she’s 100% dogtastic!

Dreaming of life with a cuddly polar bear? Teddy might be the next best thing. With his fluffy looks and gentle soul, Teddy is a big, lovable boy who’s all about comfort, companionship, and being close to his people.
Don’t let his livestock-guardian appearance fool you—Teddy already tried the farm life and decided it wasn’t his style. This guy is firmly team indoors. Despite being raised on a farm, Teddy has transitioned beautifully to home life. He’s fully housetrained, sleeps near his humans day and night, and thrives on being part of the family.
Photos don’t quite capture just how tall and long Teddy is, so he’s hoping for a home with enough space to stretch out and relax. He also has a big, impressive voice, which means apartment or shared-wall living wouldn’t be the right fit for him.
Teddy enjoys going for walks and likes to stick close to his foster mom’s side. He gets along wonderfully with other dogs—both big and small—but would also be perfectly happy soaking up all of your attention. He’s great with children, too, though his affectionate leaning could accidentally topple very little ones.
If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate companion who wants nothing more than to be near you, Teddy is ready to make your home his forever home.

True to his mastiff roots, he’s lazy, slobbery, and happiest lounging by your side (on the couch). He’s friendly with dogs and cats, enjoys meeting new people, and has great house manners. Tank is an easygoing, gentle giant looking for a soft couch and a forever family to call his own. 🐾. Tank is a lean 135 lbs with a hefty bone structure.
