Mara Jade is an almost 4-year-old, female, Australian Kelpie mix who is looking for her forever home. She is incredibly smart and loyal, and loves to please! She loves playing frisbee, tug of war, fetch with balls and sticks, and catching snowballs! She loves sunbathing in the summer and snuggling under the blankets in the winter. While she needs to be in a single-animal home, she is great with kids who can respect her space when she needs it. She loves hindquarter scritches and will back her t**h right into you to get closer when you hit the right spot! She welcomes any food you offer her (except greens!) and will politely ask for cheese, peanut butter, and banana tax! Mara Jade is house and crate trained.

Miss Maevis is a 2–3-year-old, 136 lbs, beauty queen! I mean, just look at her luxurious brindle coat, her mesmerizing eyes, and, um, her teef. Ha! Maevis is a loving, silly, girl. She is so friendly and loving towards her humans, is crate trained, house-trained, and believes every couch and human bed is her fortress. She is so far friendly with playful, male dogs that aren’t intimidated by her forward nature. Maevis loves to snuggle, indulging in the occasional pig ear, frolicking in ponds or chasing sprinklers, and surrounding herself with all the plush toys and balls she can find. Maevis requests a fenced in yard in her forever home. Her tail is stronger than any whip known to man, so humans that are tail height are probably not a great idea. Her leash skills leave much to be desired, but she tires quickly and then she walks fairly well. She’s a big, goofy, friendly girl and with some fine tuning, will be a wonderful companion.

Maevis was a “parking lot” dog in Texas. She had been known to hang around a particular area and luckily someone noticed she had injured her paws (like burns) and brought her into the shelter where she got the medical help she needed and then landed in our care. Her pads are still a work in progress but she’s responding very well to treatment and will be ready for her forever home as soon as they are fully healed.

Murphy the mutt is a 3.5 year old boy that we suspect is lab/husky/pittie mix. He is an happy guy, around 60 lbs, and a friend to all. Murphy loves people and is great with kids! He does have a constantly wiggling hiney with a strong tail, so shorter humans should beware. He loves eating blueberries, singing with fire trucks and can fully dribble a soccer ball. His excitement and rough play style can be a little much for some other dogs, but he generally does well in playgroups. However, Murphy doesn’t want to share his home with canine friends. Murphy is quite the adventurer and has summited many mountains, co-piloted many road trips and spent many nights camping under the stars. He loves a lot of time outdoors and has a strong drive for hiking, running and other hard play. Murphy would do best with a yard and humans who will give him lots of daily attention and activity.

Pearl has recently come to Colorado from Bikini Bottom in a quest to find her forever home. This 12 week old, female, Chihuahua mix (let’s just sprinkle some Schnauzer or Shih Tzu in there) is ripe for the picking by her perfect forever family.

Marley! Marley may have the ultimate pug mean mug, but he’s actually a really happy guy! His favorite thing to do is follow his human around from room to room. Marley is friendly with dogs and cats and would love a buddy that likes to play. He enjoys daily walks with his foster mom and is always down for a cuddle when it’s time for a break. Marley is an energetic boy that’s highly food motivated which will make any training a breeze. He’s even crate trained. Marley requests a toddler free home – he’s allergic to young humans.

Crosby is a delightful, 8 year old, Bichon Frise that has found himself in need of a new home. Crosby has grown up with the same family since he was a pup. When his canine sibling passed away, Crosby was so sad and confused. He became a bit anxious and the autistic child in the home was on sensory overload. His family made the difficult decision to find a better situation for him. So, Crosby joined a foster home with MHCR and now he’s ready to find his retirement home. He’s a happy, snuggly guy and he loves to sleep perfectly spooned with his human at night. In fact, he doesn’t take ‘no’ for an answer on this. He’s very dog friendly and seems to handle life with a canine companion with much more ease. Crosby is sociable and outgoing. He rides well in the car, walks well on a leash, and he is even house trained. Crosby’s favorite spot is right next to his human. He’s a bit on the heavy side and could stand to lose a few lbs – he’s presently 26 lbs but should be closer to 21. Crosby kindly requests a fenced in yard and a canine companion in his home.
