🚨 SOS — Woof & Willow Needs Help 🚨

Friends, I’m reaching out with complete honesty because the rescue is at a breaking point.

In 2–3 weeks, Merida and all eight of her puppies will be ready to leave the nursery and move into foster homes. That means we need multiple foster families lined up NOW so these babies have a safe place to land when the time comes.

But that’s not the only challenge we’re facing…

💔 Donations are extremely low
📦 Supplies are running out
📝 Applications have slowed to almost nothing
💬 And right now… I have no help

On top of that, Leo and Bella are STILL waiting for their forever homes. These two amazing dogs have been overlooked again and again, and they deserve so much better.

I’m doing everything I can behind the scenes, but I can’t do this alone. I am truly drowning, and the rescue cannot continue without community support.

I want to say a very, very special thank you to one of our foster families who went out of their way yesterday to buy the rescue a new washing machine. Not being able to wash laundry with 12 dogs was… messy. And this foster stepped up not only for me but for every dog in the rescue.

🐾 MEET THE NOVEMBER LITTER — AVAILABLE NOW & OVERLOOKED 🐾

This precious little crew came to us as a transfer after they were found as strays here in Colorado. Thanks to our incredible partners at NOCO Humane, their lives were saved and they were given a second chance. 🤍

They’re now around 7–8 weeks old, likely Australian Shepherd/Pit mixes, and officially AVAILABLE TO ADOPT — but heartbreakingly, not a single application has come in yet.

These babies deserve so much more than to sit and wait. They’re sweet, snuggly, playful, and ready to start their lives with families who will love them forever. 🫶🏼

It’s hard to believe… but Bella is still waiting for her forever home.

This gentle mama gave everything she had to keep her puppies safe while sitting on the euthanasia list at one of the highest-kill shelters in the country. Even then, she stayed calm, loving, and devoted — the very definition of a good dog.

URGENT 🚨 THE WASHING MACHINE BROKE

Yes, a professional came out, it’ll cost more to repair than to replace.

If you’ve ever fostered, volunteered, or followed our journey, you know how essential our washing machine is. With puppies, mamas, sick dogs, accidents, blankets, towels, bedding… it runs all day, every day.

Today, it finally gave out. And without it, keeping our animals clean, warm, and safe becomes incredibly difficult.

📣 As many of you may know, Colorado’s Pet Animal Care and Facilities Act (PACFA) implemented new regulations in July 2025 that have significantly impacted legitimate rescues across our state. One of the most challenging changes prohibits rescues from transporting puppies into Colorado unless they are old enough to receive their rabies vaccination—typically 14–16 weeks of age.

On paper, this may sound reasonable. In reality, it prevents rescues from pulling vulnerable, at-risk puppies from high-kill shelters in time to save their lives. By the time these puppies reach the approved age, many will never make it out of overcrowded shelters in other states.

These new rules are only one example in a 60-page regulatory manual that rescues, shelters, and community-based organizations must comply with to remain in operation. While rescues are being held to extraordinarily strict standards—many of which are costly, complex, and burdensome—other groups face virtually no oversight.

And this is where the imbalance becomes painfully clear:

In Colorado, backyard breeders are classified as “hobby breeders.” This means they are not regulated by PACFA at all.
No required vaccinations.
No required deworming.
No spay or neuter expectations.
No inspections.
No accountability.

Meanwhile, responsible rescues must meet exhaustive requirements, invest thousands into compliance, and continuously navigate regulatory hurdles—simply to save lives.

Of course, reputable breeders do exist. Many do things the right way. But we’ve all seen the posts:
“Puppy for sale, 6 weeks old, no vaccinations, not fixed.”

It’s a double standard that hurts animals.
It pushes desperate families toward unregulated sellers.
And it makes it harder for ethical rescues to continue operating in a state that claims to value animal welfare.

Colorado can—and should—do better.

If you care about animal protection, responsible rescue work, and fair, meaningful legislation, please help spread awareness. The voices of rescues are often small, but together, our voices are powerful.
