Love this!

Snowman, the "Cinderella Horse," was more than a champion - he was the embodiment of second chances and the magic that can happen when someone believes in you.

Rescued from a slaughterhouse for just $80, Snowman’s fate seemed sealed, destined for a life of hardship. But with love and care from his owner, Harry de Leyer, this humble plow horse soared to heights no one could have imagined.
He didn’t just win ribbons; he stole hearts. Against all odds, Snowman became a national show jumping champion, leaping over obstacles as if defying the very limitations the world had set for him. Each jump was a reminder that greatness can come from the most unlikely places, and every time he cleared the highest fences, it wasn’t just a victory in the ring - it was a triumph of spirit, of love, and of the unshakable bond between a man and his horse.

The journey of the snowman serves as a poignant reminder that regardless of one's origins, with faith and a measure of kindness, it is possible to transcend one's circumstances and reach great heights. He represented more than merely a horse; he embodied hope, resilience, and the remarkable potential of second chances. (Snowman could jump big jumps, but still calm enough for a little tot).

Our Story

Red Ridge Ranch opened in 1999 as a small, family-owned trail riding stable located just 20 min. North of Wis. Dells, WI. Over the last 20 years, the stable has grown from 20 acres and 10 horses to well over 340 acres and over 130 horses. Every animal here is treated like family and guests come back to exprience the farm/ranch atmosphere from feeding the horses, to playing with the cats and dogs, to watching the chickens and ducks run around. Many guests visit us year after year to ride their favorite horse out on our scenic 3-mile trail that goes down by the beautiful Lemonweir river, back up through the woods, an along side several fields. We are a year-round business that offers a wonderful trail ride to guests of all ages and skill levels, and pony rides are available everyday by the barn for those who are not quite ready for the full experience. Seasonally, we offer advanced rides in which we walk, trot, and even canter for those guests who are looking to get going a little faster. Camping trips with horses are offered in the spring where we haul horses to a state park and ride them in beautiful bluffs for a whole weekend. Summer time is filled with day camps where campers are given their own horse to care for and ride, whether it be for a day or a week. Our barn is nice and spooky for Halloween in the fall with daytime activities everyday and Haunted Hay rides in October. And of course once the snow starts flying, our gentle team of horses is hooked up and ready for sleigh/wagon rides with groups of any size.

So whether it be a pony ride or and advanced ride, a sleigh/wagon ride or even a horse day camp, we have something for everyone here at Red Ridge Ranch!
