This patient tested positive for heartworm on a routine 4DX test—and what you’re seeing under the microscope is a live microfilaria (baby heartworm) in the bloodstream (arrow shown).
Heartworms are spread by mosquitoes and can quietly cause life-threatening damage before you ever see symptoms.

The silver lining?
💊 Heartworm disease is 100% preventable with monthly prevention.

Our hearts are a little heavy sharing that Dr. Brossett will be leaving Fairview Animal Hospital to begin a new chapter closer to home. She will be accepting appointments through 08/27.

We know many of you have come to know and love her just like we have. She’s been such an important part of our team, and we’re so thankful for the time, care, and compassion she’s shared with all of us.

We’re cheering her on every step of the way… while also missing her already. 💙🐾

Fairview showed up and showed OUT at the BCAWS 5K this weekend! 🐾🔥
Heather and Mari absolutely crushed it—both bringing home 1st place in their age groups! 🥇💪
Meanwhile, Layla, Alex, and Amy were on cheer duty—keeping runners hydrated, pointing them in the right direction, and bringing ALL the energy! 💧📣

The entire event was AMAZING—so well organized and full of the kindest people. We’re beyond grateful to be part of a community that shows up for pets in need. ❤️
Huge congratulations to BCAWS on their first 5K—you guys knocked it out of the park! 👏🐕 We’re already looking forward to the next one!

Please join us in welcoming Dr. Williford on her first day at Fairview Animal Hospital! We’re so excited to have her on our team!🌟🐾

Dr. Williford is now booking appointments for cats and dogs, providing full-service care for your pets.
And okay, okay… we know, we just talked about birds... 🐦💚
But as a reminder, Dr. Williford is also seeing your feathered friends for nails, wings, and beaks.

We’ve got a crew representing Fairview—Mari & Heather will be hitting the pavement, while Layla, Alex, and Amy will be holding it down at the halfway point cheering on runners and keeping everyone hydrated 💧

Any time Kit stops by, the rule is simple: someone must be holding him at all times. 🐱💕
He hands out the best hugs, demands constant love, and keeps us all rotating through cuddle duty… not that anyone’s complaining. 😄

Hannah and Lily were working on an ear cleaning with this sweet boy, but he made it clear: belly rubs > everything else. So… we adapted!

While this might not be the textbook technique, keeping pets calm and comfortable can make all the difference—and this guy was much happier laying on his side soaking up the scratches while we treated those itchy ears 💙
