Today’s mood: frustrated.

I’m frustrated that animals are suffering because of the over population and also suffering when officials won’t take responsibility of them.

Meet Billy and Bob. Two cats that were laying in a ditch for hours last night before a couple picked them up. Expecting to be a quick stop in their rescue story.

If you live outside of city limits, you may have found a stray cat in the past. Trying to do the right thing, you call to have the animal taken to a shelter. BUT lately, I continue to hear over and over again “no contract”.

Meaning the township doesn’t pay for a contract with the shelter. Meaning the shelter doesn’t have the funds or resources to allocate to intake animals from the township.

So after a Good Samaritan is given the run around of “call this person” all while they care for a stray animal that isn’t theirs….to ultimately be told to just let the cat go. Let nature take its course. There’s no where for it to go.

This isn’t the shelter or townships fault entirely. It’s a viscous cycle of over population, dumping, not spaying and neutering and throw away culture. There isn’t an easy fix.

But guys, I’m getting messages and emails DAILY of cats and dogs that have NO WHERE to go.

Billy is the black and white cat. He’s easily 7 years old if not more. He’s riddled in ear mites, which between the scratching and male cat fights he’s in, his whole entire face is swollen and full of infection.
He NEEDS veterinary care NOW. He will not survive just being let go. Not to mention he is soooo affectionate. He is not a feral cat at all.

Bob is the grey cat. He’s also affectionate. These cats were physically picked up out of the ditch. Any animal savvy person knows, a “feral” or “wild” cat will run away. These two didn’t.

So anyway. Rant over. Even just writing this post I have another new message about a cat.

Spay and neuter your pets people, stop being irresponsible. ✌🏻

Rainy, Rosie and Reggie!
5 month old Great Danes.

These guys came from a backyard breeder that cared more about money than ethically raising puppies. So these guys are still shy and learning to be puppies.
They are typical derpy Danes that have zero idea how big they are…they look like a baby giraffe with their long legs trying to be coordinated…

But they’re also the sweetest, affectionate and playful babies once they’re comfortable.

Pretty Patty sat around the fire with us last night. She sat quietly the whole time and even got some cheese.

Patty is looking for a forever home. She’s good with cats, other dogs, and chickens. She’s not a huge fan of the kids, but they don’t really bother her either. She’s just a shy girl and would probably do better in a more quiet home.

She does really well in her crate, but we’re still working on potty training.

She’s spayed and just had her dental.
