Coming for a trail ride? We have opened up another sunset ride on Sunday at 5:30pm for our riders to beat the heat. Dress to ride! Pants and closed toe shoes are highly recommended! Don't forget the sunscreen and mosquito spray either.

Due to heat and humidity, no children will be allowed to ride double with a parent because they are very likely to overheat.

Calling our local gardeners!

Colonial Spanish Sport Pony Club is doing a fundraiser selling manure from the horse lots to help establish a curriculum and award program. Several of our Karma Farms horses fall into their size category. They're looking at doing a virtual distance riding challenge for the month of July but will need awards.

This is not straight manure. It is mixed with our local soil and manufacturers are on site. $5 per feed sack full or $2 if you bring your own 5 gallon bucket. This works excellent for potting soil, fertilizer, top soil, compost, etc.

We have an education day planned for June 28th at 10am! Some of our older horses are in need of dentistry and we have found a new dentist through a friend of ours. Bonnie Rhodes, our new equine dentist, will be here! So for our clients and friends with horses, there is still room in her schedule to do more horses. For our lesson students, this is a unique learning opportunity!

If you plan on attending please let us know the week before so we know how many are coming. If you have horses whose teeth need to be done, we can send you her phone number!

We have extra tomato plants! These are yellow or orange snacking sized tomatoes and we have too many to plant! This round of seeds sprouted better than anticipated and, even after weeks of repotting, we still have new tomato plants coming up in the cups. Between these, our coyote tomatoes, and a few rogue Roma plants that have come up in our yard, watermelon patch, carport, and chicken coop we have extra! $2 each

These are not Bonnie plants, these are just recycled pots from plants we planted early this season and the most uniform size we could get.

Looking for summer activities that last more than just a week? Consider doing horsemanship and riding lessons!

There is so much more to horses than we can teach in a 1 hour lesson every week but we have decided to dedicate a day out of the week to teach more. This is not just for an hour, but 1:30pm to 6pm every Monday as weather allows. We will cancel or reschedule for heat advisories or storms.

We will be learning parts of the horse, how to care for tack, ground work and communication, group horse etiquette, how to care for a horse, and much more!

This activity is for students 10 and over starting June 2nd. You can do one day or once per week. You must call and reserve your spot! We have horses available for non experienced riders through intermediates wanting to work on project horses. Adults welcome!

For students who would like to participate but are unable due to financial situations, contact Colonial Spanish Sport Pony Club for arrangements.

Of course one of our projects is reclaiming the iris beds ✨ The beds on the north side of the house hadn't been weeded while Vickie was recovering but we have cleared several mimosas and a lot of vine. We are working on some shaded seating areas for when we have groups here.

We won't be doing day camps as we used to, however we are planning on days for horsemanship, distance riding, and unmounted learning activities this summer in addition to regular riding lessons.

When we say we are a working farm and ranch we absolutely mean it! Now that Vickie is up and going again we have had time to do major cleanup projects and today, with the help of one of our college aged students, we were able to get a simple lamb pen put together. For safety reasons we do not try to use lightweight pallets for cattle, horses, or RAMS as our male sheep tend to head butt lightweight wood to pieces. However, for a couple of our Jacob ewe lambs it will do nicely. Lily and Nightingale are enjoying their new pen as we make room for (hopefully) the last bottle lamb in our smaller setup. All it lacks is the hinges for it to be fully functional.

Colonial Spanish Sport Pony Club is discussing an education day about sheep and the products we get from them later this summer. Is there any interest? We have already sheared and started processing wool from our former herd sire but could potentially talk someone who spins into a demonstration with any luck.
