Clinique loves being girlie and being dressing up.👒

Clinique is enjoying some one-on-one time in one of our foster homes. Preparing puppies for adoption is more than just medical care and proper nutrition, it’s socialization!

Clinique enjoys her foster fur friends and is slow to warm up to people but after just a few days, will sit on any person and request petting. Change is hard on her, a bit sensitive so her adopter will need to give her attention and time to adjust (house training, meeting new dogs, sights and sounds).

💌 When Toby’s owner needed to go to a memory care community - she wrote a letter, asking for someone to love her dog and care for him since her dementia prevented her from keeping him. Toby had limited dog social skills and afraid of new people.

It took time to find Toby the right home, a new future and family. Dedicated volunteers made this adoption possible 🫶🏽 special thanks to Ms Kelly and Pet Supplies Plus for donating small breed dog food.

HAPPY NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY 🍨

Dandelion now known as Indy is enjoying her summer!

Adopted just before her 1st birthday, she traveled to the Midwest for adoption. This Doberman goes swimming and to her Owner’s counseling office to help humans. A backyard breeder’s pup from Texas is now living the life she deserves.

Welcome Sally Driftwood ✨

Found alone on a dock during a thunderstorm. Seen and not ignored, she was taken home and given the care she deserves. Thanks to the Latiolais family for fostering and starting fundraisers for her medical care.

Dogs we find abandoned in Texas are not broken, mean or undeserving just homeless. Humans have failed them. Sally trusts people and knows sit, shake and down. Sally takes her treats and meals gently with no guarding. She is playing enthusiastically with two large Dobermans who have taught her that being extra affectionate or ‘velcro’ is ok and expected at this house.

A week ago, Texas started the holiday weekend with heartbreaking news that a flash flood had swept through Kerr County. The county sits on Interstate 10 and has the Guadalupe River running through the otherwise rural county with limited local resources. The region is affectionately known as the 'Hill Country' and a popular vacation destination due to its natural beauty for Dallas, Houston, San Antonio families.

Families were on vacation on the edge of the Guadalupe River while multiple children's summer camps were in session nearby. The flash flooding along the river swept away RVs, vehicles from the flooded roads and bridges, cabins and vacation homes. Recovery efforts are still consuming the area; many vehicles are deep in the mud and layers of debris being excavated carefully to preserve persons lost in the water. The grief across Texas is tangible.

We checked on our friends in the Hill Country. We are told that the shelters, dog kennels and independent rescues are physically ok. Animal welfare organizations have come to Kerrville (Kerrville Pets Alive!) to help the shelter move animals to bigger cities making room to care for recovered pets from the flood who likely belonged to vacationing families.

In June we brought in three dogs from Kerrville thanks to Ms Michelle. The connection to Kerr County is felt deeply by the fosters caring for Dixie, Zeus and Delaynie. We focus on areas with limited or no resources for pets across southern Texas and our region (Houston).
