Our organization is a low kill/no kill shelter and we NEVER euthanize animals to make room for additional animals. The shelter is not able to accept visibly sick or injured animals and we cannot pick up stray animals. The shelter cannot accept feral or wild animals. We define "feral" as cats and dogs that cannot be held without trying to scratch, bite or get away. If you would like to volunteer, we'd love to have you! Contact us via email or give us a call.

Hello there, I'm KC. I'm a friendly older fella of about 6 years with a heart full of sweetness. I value my independence, but I still love the company of humans, especially when they show me affection. Just know, there’s no need to pick me up. I prefer to keep my paws on the ground, thank you very much. But I do enjoy a good petting session. I can be a bit picky about other cats. I guess you could say I'm cat-selective. I promise to bring a unique blend of independence and affection into your life, all wrapped up in a bundle of feline charm. I’m neutered, UTD on all of my vaccinations and ready to start a new chapter in my life.

He checks off all of the boxes: Handsome ☑️ Playful ☑️ Super friendly ☑️
So why is he still here?? He even gets along with other dogs AND is heartworm negative ☑️☑️ Alphie is a 6-year-old bulldog mix with the cutest ears, who, like many others here, has been at the shelter way too long (4 years, in fact), patiently waiting to be adopted.

Wow! We are absolutely overjoyed and can't find the words to express how thankful we are to all of you who have contributed toward new doghouses. ASCAS is proud to be participating in South Carolina's largest dog and cat adoption event of the year as Petco Love Pick Me! SC kicks off from June 20 to June 29.

The campaign's goal is to find homes for 2,500 dogs and cats within 10 days. Stop by the shelter to meet some of our four-legged residents. Hopefully, we will be able to contribute towards this goal.

We are excited to announce that we have triumphed once again, thanks to your votes in the 2025 Best of Clarendon! Our shelter has been recognized as the Best Non-Profit Organization and for hosting the Best Charity Event, which was our First Annual Sherri Arment Memorial Charity Golf Classic. Additionally, our thrift store has been awarded as the Best Thrift Store in the county. Thank you all for your support!

SISTER ACT - Introducing the dynamic duo, Ava and Panda! These two adorable bundles of joy are new arrivals at the shelter. While they are not a bonded pair and can be adopted separately, it would be wonderful if they could stay together. They are adjusting beautifully, socializing and playing with other cats at the shelter. Both have been spayed and are UTD on their vaccinations.
