First tastes of Zero Proof Horse Treats for Suga. He has been very guarded over his nose so it has taken him some time to open up to the idea of taking something from my hand. Now that he is finally taking them he’s loving them! I can’t wait to incorporate them into our sessions.

Farrier day today and Suga had his first trim🤩

He started off pretty worried about my farrier but relaxed into it and ended up being pretty darn good all things considered. For being only a week and a half out of holding and considering he had the last few days off from work while I was out of town, he was great! His feet weren’t in too bad of shape but his frogs were in pretty dire need of cleaning up so picking out his feet can do its job properly.

Another step closer to being ready for riding!

Someone is quite smitten with Suga but hey, aren’t we all?🙈

My younger sister came in and helped me do a session tonight. She trained a horse from this same HMA back in 2020 and to this day has regretted selling him. Well, as fate would have it, Suga is very similar in personality to the gelding she trained and so it’s no shock she really likes him! (Photo of her guy in the comments)

It helps that Suga hasn’t had any stranger danger so far and seems to like everyone he meets!

There’s been a lot of excitement over the new kid, but I can’t forget about Hondo🤩

Hondo is coming along in his riding quite nicely despite the weather not wanting to cooperate with good footing. He’s around 15 or so rides in and is starting to understand connecting my legs to my reins. We are also starting to ride consistently out of the roundpen.

I’ve got so many cool geldings that I’m working with right now!
