We Hit 1,000 YouTube Subscribers!

Poppy and I have something exciting to celebrate! A1 Dog Training has officially reached 1,000 subscribers on YouTube!

When I started sharing our training videos, I never imagined we'd reach this milestone. What started as a way to share training tips, progress, and a little fun with the dogs has grown into something really special.

A huge thank you to everyone who has watched, subscribed, commented, or shared our videos. Your support means so much to both of us!

A1DT | Teaching Your Dog the Marker Word "Yes!"

Did you know that one simple word can make a big difference in your dog's training?

In this video, starring Lilly and Poppy, we're working on teaching the marker word "Yes!" This is a simple but powerful training tool that lets your dog know the exact moment they've done something right!

By consistently pairing "Yes!" with a reward, dogs begin to associate the word with positive outcomes. Over time, it helps build confidence, encourages good behavior, and makes communication between you and your dog much clearer.

As your dog becomes more familiar with the marker word, it can actually become more valuable to them than the treat itself! The word becomes a powerful signal of success, building excitement, confidence, and motivation. While treats are still important for reinforcing behavior, the marker word can become rewarding in its own right through repeated positive associations.

A1DT | Poppy's Pup Cup Patience Pays Off!

Hi everyone! Poppy the Pawsitive here!

Today I got one of my FAVORITE treats... a pup cup!

Now, I know I'm supposed to be a good girl and practice my patience, but do you have any idea how hard it is to wait when there's delicious whipped cream right in front of your nose?!

Luckily, I've had lots of practice with impulse control, and I know that being patient usually means something yummy is coming my way!

I think I deserve another pup cup for being such a good girl. Don't you agree?

A1DT | Remembering Mercy

We never knew exactly what breeds Mercy was mixed with, but after hearing her do this, we started to suspect she might have some Husky in her! Huskies and a few other vocal breeds are known for their wide range of sounds, and some can even mimic noises that sound surprisingly close to human words. Mercy definitely had a personality all her own and always seemed to have something to say.

She absolutely loved playing fetch, and to this day, whenever I see a Frisbee or a tennis ball, I think of her. It's funny how something so simple can bring back so many memories. Even though she's no longer here, moments like these are something I'll always treasure.

Ivy has a new toy, and she's determined to enjoy it from the comfort of her couch!

There's just one little problem... it keeps falling off! Poor Ivy just can't seem to catch a break!

Hi friends! Poppy here!

I've got some exciting news! Our A1 Dog Training YouTube channel is getting SO close to 1,000 subscribers! We're at 995, which means we're just 5 subscribers away from our big goal!

Dad's been busy sharing training videos, helpful tips, and all the amazing things our four-legged friends are learning. Of course, I make plenty of appearances too, along with my sister Lilly!

We've also got some pretty funny bloopers. Apparently, Dad thinks everything I do doesn't always go according to plan. I disagree!
