🐾 Patient Spotlight: Belle 🐾

Belle came to us for evaluation after showing signs of abnormal behavior and nausea.

After a thorough examination, she was diagnosed with pharyngitis and started on treatment with doxycycline and Cerenia to help address infection and keep her comfortable.

We’re happy to report that during a follow-up a few days later, Belle’s owner shared that she was doing fabulously and appeared to have made a full recovery! 💙

Way to go, Belle! 🐶✨

Future veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and animal advocates in the making 🐾 💚

We loved getting to host local Girl Scout troop #10-460 at our hospital! The scouts got a behind-the-scenes tour, learned more about how emergency vet medicine works, asked some great questions, and even took home some goodie bags too.

Thank you troop #10-460 for visiting with us. We love sharing our passion for helping pets and the people who love them. 🫶

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, a time to acknowledge the importance of emotional well-being both inside and outside the workplace.

We want to recognize a few members of our team - Deanna, Megan, and Chris - for their thoughtful support, from creating mental health resources and wellness activities to writing personalized words of encouragement for staff members.

Veterinary medicine can be emotionally demanding, and we are grateful to have a team that help make our hospital a more supportive and encouraging environment for everyone. 💚

This time of year, people start using more fertilizers, insecticides, and herbicides for their lawns and gardens. Ingredients in these products can be dangerous if your pet ingests them. This is a reminder to keep all lawn and garden care properly stored and away from pets.

If you suspect your pet has consumed fertilizer, insecticide, or herbicide, immediately contact NAVES at (256) 850-0077. You can also connect with the ASPCA Animal Poison Control Center at (888) 426-4435.

🐾 Patient Spotlight: Bailey 🐾

This sweet pup came to us after being attacked by an off-leash dog and required a laceration repair surgery. Thanks to the hard work of our veterinary team, plus time for healing, she is now recovering beautifully. 🫶

Dog attacks can happen quickly, even in familiar environments. Keeping pets leashed and supervised helps protect both your pet and others around them.

🐾 Patient Spotlight: Sophia 🐾

Sophia, an 8-year-old Chihuahua, came to us with vomiting and bloody, gelatinous stool after ingesting mushrooms later identified as potentially toxic Amanita species.

On presentation, Sophia was showing signs of dehydration, hypothermia, and hypovolemia. She was hospitalized with us for four days, where she received close monitoring and dedicated care from our team. We’re so happy to share that she made a remarkable recovery! 💙

A follow-up with her owner—who also shared a very kind review—confirmed that Sophia has continued to do well at home. During her stay, we all fell in love with her gentle and sweet personality.

Way to go, Sophia! 🐶✨

With the rise of spring comes an increase in pollen as flowers bloom and grasses, weeds, and trees flourish. Just like people, pets can suffer from seasonal allergies. Here are a few tips to help reduce exposure during allergy season:

🌸 Bathe pets more often
🌼 Wipe them down after going outside
🌳 Wash their bedding weekly
🌻 Keep your home tidy (especially rugs and upholstered furniture)
🌷 Replace air filters

If you notice your pet is experiencing any consistent symptoms of irritation or discomfort, visit your veterinarian to help evaluate their condition and discuss treatment options.

🐾 Patient Spotlight: Argo 🐾

Argo, a 5-month-old Giant Schnauzer, visited us after his owner noticed a laceration on his right rear paw following some backyard playtime.

For Argo’s comfort and safety, we performed sedation to allow for proper care. His treatment included a thorough wound clip, cleaning and flushing, followed by laceration repair.

Argo was sent home with antibiotics and carprofen to help manage pain and inflammation as he heals.

We’re wishing this sweet pup a smooth and speedy recovery! 💙🐶
