🚨 Distemper Outbreak in Calhoun County, AL 🚨

Multiple dogs in Calhoun County have tested positive for canine distemper — a highly contagious and often fatal virus that affects dogs, foxes, coyotes, and other wildlife. 😢

🚨 Common Pet Emergencies You Should Know 🚨
Some pet emergencies can escalate quickly—knowing the signs could save your pet’s life.

Here are just a few conditions that every pet owner should be aware of:
🐱 Male cats: Urethral obstruction (can be fatal if they can’t p*e!)
🐶 Older large breed dogs: Hemangiosarcoma (often found on the spleen)
🐕‍🦺 Unspayed female dogs: Pyometra (a deadly uterine infection)
🐈 Older cats: Saddle thrombus/FATE (sudden hind limb paralysis)
🐾 Deep-chested dogs (like Great Danes): Bloat/GDV (a twisted stomach that requires immediate surgery)

🩺 If you notice any sudden changes in your pet’s behavior—especially pain, weakness, or distress—seek emergency care immediately.
