FLOOD SAFETY ALERT & EVACUATION SUPPORT

To our Lynden and Whatcom County neighbors, as we deal with rising water levels, please prioritize your pet’s safety. If you are preparing to leave or just hunkering down, here is a checklist to keep your dog safe.

DURING THE FLOOD:
    •    Indoors is safest: Keep dogs indoors and strictly away from floodwater.
    •  Hygiene: Avoid letting dogs walk, drink, or play in floodwater. If they touch standing water, rinse their paws and belly immediately to avoid infection.
    •    Potty Breaks: Keep dogs on a leash and on high ground during any outdoor movement.

PREPARE NOW:
    •    Identification: Make sure they have a collar with ID tags on at all times.
    •    Records: Confirm vaccines are current and microchip contact info is updated.
    •    Go-Bag: Pack dog essentials: food, medications, leash, p**p bags, and vet records.
    •    Evacuation Rule: Bring your dog with you if you evacuate. Never leave them outside, crated, or tied up in an empty house.

WE HAVE SAFE, DRY ROOM FOR YOUR DOG We know that emergency shelters or hotels don’t always allow dogs, and that the uncertainty of rising water is scary.

If you are evacuating to a place that cannot take dog, or if you are worried about your home flooding and simply want your dog out of harm’s way, please call us.

We have plenty of room. We will keep them safe, dry, and loved while you focus on your family and home.
