The FDA has issued an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for Simparica TRIO® for the treatment of New World screwworm infestations in dogs and puppies.

🪰 What does this mean for pet owners?
New World screwworm is a serious parasite that can infest wounds and other areas of the body. Dogs that live in, travel to, or return from areas where screwworm has been detected should be monitored closely.

🚨 Know the warning signs:
• Maggots in or around a wound
• An unusual or foul odor from a wound
• Increased attention to or licking of a wound
• Wounds that appear to worsen or aren’t healing normally

If you suspect screwworm, seek veterinary care immediately.

Simparica TRIO is available at Animal Medical Center through prescription and its use for New World screwworm is currently authorized under an FDA Emergency Use Authorization. It is not authorized for prevention of screwworm.
