🚨 THE SURRENDER IS HERE 🚨

What was supposed to be two turned into one, and unfortunately, the one who arrived is in very rough shape.

This sweet bearded dragon is extremely lethargic, very dark, and has severely clogged pores. He has yet to even lift his head since arriving. We were told he hasn’t been feeling well all week, which means we are officially working against the clock.

He needs to see a veterinarian ASAP so we can figure out what is wrong and get him the treatment he desperately needs. Right now, we don’t know what we’re dealing with, but we know he needs help.

After a few days of getting to know our newest sanctuary resident, we’ve officially decided on a name!

Everyone, meet Koda! 💚

Our 7 year old Chinese water dragon has already stolen our hearts, and we can’t wait to watch him continue to settle in, show us his personality, and remind us why every rescue is worth it.

🎉 BIG NEWS FROM ECLECTIC EXOTICS RESCUE & REHAB! 🎉

WE GOT OUR 501(c)(3)!!!

After months of paperwork, planning, late nights, board meetings, applications, and a whole lot of work behind the scenes, we can finally officially say that Eclectic Exotics Rescue & Rehab is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization!

This is SO much bigger than a piece of paper. It is a huge step forward for our rescue, our animals, and our future.

When we started this journey, we had no idea just how far it would take us. What started with one animal in need has grown into a rescue that continues to take in animals who need a second chance, provide medical care, educate our community, and give these animals the safe and loving futures they deserve.

And we couldn't have gotten here without you.
Every donation. Every share. Every adoption. Every volunteer hour. Every person who has trusted us with an animal. Every person who has cheered us on from the sidelines.
You have all helped build this.

So today, we're celebrating not just getting our 501(c)(3), but everything this milestone represents.

We're officially a tax-deductible nonprofit. We're officially recognized. And we're just getting started.

The surprise surrender is HERE! 👀

Many of you guessed iguana… and if you did, you were absolutely… ....
WRONG! 🤣

Everyone, welcome this handsome guy! He is a 7-year-old Chinese water dragon who was rescued about 4 months ago with a fractured jaw and some other health issues. His rescuer did an absolutely amazing job getting him back on his feet and giving him the care he needed.

When she reached out to us for help due to some personal circumstances, we promised her that he would always have a safe place here. ❤️

Over the next few days, we’ll be getting to know his personality and deciding on the perfect name for him!

Why do we even say we’re full? 😂

When emergencies come our way and other rescues just aren’t an option for someone, whether because of distance, capacity, or other circumstances, we somehow always find a way.

These two bearded dragons needed us, and our hearts just couldn’t say no. They’ll be coming to us Sunday evening, and we’re already making room for them.

And when we say we have to move some of our personal furniture… if you’ve ever been here, you know there isn’t exactly much furniture left to move anyway. 😂

These beardies might need a little extra help getting back on track, so let’s make this a $5 Friday!

❤️Species Accommodations💚

Here at Eclectic Exotics we are up for the challenge to help ANY species, even if we have to reach out to other facilities for help. However, due to spacial requirements the saying “we can’t save them all” comes to mind. Let’s talk about some species we CANNOT take in at the current moment.

❤️ Leopard geckos: even if surrendered with enclosure, leopard geckos are underrated and not very popular. We currently have 5 in the facility and all have been here an extend amount of time.
💜 Large species of snakes: we pride ourselves in exceptional care standards. While Burms and Retics are stunning, we know we cannot give them the space that they need to thrive (for now… 😉).
💚 Large Monitors: ANY speciality species is done on a case by case basis. Some species such as AWM (Asian Water Monitors) get HUGE and we cannot accommodate the sheer size of the species.
❤️ Anything Aquatic: This includes fish and turtles. We are not fish people but we do have resources for them! Certain species of turtle are protected and should not be caught and kept as pets, but we know it happens any way. Stop catching and keeping them, please. Turtles have extremely specific care requirements that the average citizen cannot provide.
🤎 Spiders/Tarantulas: This is simply due to having no space to put them.
💜 Any Small Mammal: We do not take in guinea pigs, rabbits, chinchillas, or similar. But we can certainly point you in the right direction! Note: We are able to take in sugar gliders, they are marsupials.

Most other species we can make accommodations for if they are surrendered with their enclosure. A lot of the time it is on case by case with any species we take. Thank you all for your support!
