The California Dept. of Public Health is encouraging veterinarians to warn pet owners about the risks of feeding raw milk and other raw foods to pets. The highly pathogenic avian influenza A has been detected in over 500 California dairies since Aug. 2024.
Two domestic cats in L.A. County died after becoming infected after consuming retail raw milk. Avian flu infection causes neurologic symptoms such as seizures, acute ataxia, blindness and nystagmus.
