The evolution of a street dog from the moment he was rescued and slowly getting comfortable in his foster home…
Ducky was rescued off the street on 2/24. He came to us on 3/1. He was nervous, untrusting, completely insecure. It was very hard for him to respond so we kept a drag leash on him to start. He was not pressured to interact with us. We took it slow. He is finally jumping on the couch, snuggling with one of our other fosters and he’s relaxed! He was afraid of doorways when he first came. Now he knows he’s allowed inside (sad, right?) and he has decided that the couch is not so bad. His toothy smile is everything!
Large (18lb) chihuahua-ish mix. Healthy, approx 3 years old, good with other dogs & cats with proper introductions, loves gentle children, easy on leash, great in the car and not needy. He’s come so far and he is just a fabulous little man that deserves a loving, forever home.
Thank you Hope For Paws for saving him and letting us be part of his journey to a forever home.
Thank you Louie Shovelhead for tolerating all the animals I bring home. 😂

Emma is a lucky girl! Imagine being 3-4mo old and living under a van for weeks! Dirty, tick infested, skinny and scared. This puppy didn’t get to have a carefree life where the only concern is which toy to play with or which dog bed to lay in.
Thankfully our friend Tracey Durning saw the posts and jumped into action. When she realized she needed some help so the scared pup didn’t run in the street, she reached out to our friends at Hope For Paws to borrow some of their supplies. Once she was trapped, she went straight to the vet.
She came to us yesterday. Still exhausted from her time on the streets but she knows she’s safe and she can finally relax. We can’t wait to see her wrestle and play with toys like every puppy should!
Meet her this Sunday at our weekly adoption event:
Tailwaggers/Tailwashers 147 N Larchmont Blvd LA 90004 10:30-12:30

This is a preview - more details on her rescue to come… Emma’s story is still being written but it’s guaranteed to have a happy ending thanks to Tracey Durning aka Lady Windsor 😂
Thank you to our rescue partner Hope For Paws for helping with her vet care. Thank you Louie Shovelhead for welcoming another foster to the tribe! She’s had a hard life in her short 4 months of life but it’s all easy street from here on out! 😎♥️🐾

George is back! He was recently adopted but was having trouble acclimating and accepting the other dog in the home. This brings up a very important point about us and our commitment to the animals - we don’t put our rescues on transports to other rescues and we do not ship animals. They stay local enough that if we need to jump in the car and get them back, we can! They don’t deserve anything less.
George is approx 8yo, house trained, good with dogs here, great on leash, overall just a happy dude. Some visual impairment and selective hearing but loving and happy to just play with his squeaky ball.

Foster fail anniversary… It’s been a year since this little tyrant came to live with us. It started as “let’s get her healthy and then find her a home…” She had other plans. After lunging at children and other dogs at adoption events, we scrapped that idea. She’s obsessed with Louie Shovelhead and if she could, she would get a tattoo on her arm that said ♥️DAD! 😂 She adopted him and we couldn’t be happier!
We live under her rule… She sometimes pretends to be blind so she needs to be carried. She sometimes radiates with hot anger so we all walk wide around her.
She’s the first one fed and the last one to finish but everyone knows to leave her alone.
She’s a regular at Sherman Oaks Veterinary Group and notoriously lives up to her name.
We’re grateful to give so many animals a second chance after humans fail them.
Thank you for supporting our work.

Lightning wants a forever home!
Female, spayed, healthy.
Great with other animals.
Polite with kids.
Cool with bossy dogs.
Shepherd mix
Estimate full size will be 45-ish
Rescued with her littermates, mom and auntie from a cave (giant rocks) in Perris at 8 weeks old. She’s been coming to adoption events with no serious interest. Why? Is she too polite/quiet to be noticed? Is it pretty girl syndrome where people are afraid to talk to her? 🤔
If you’re looking for a new edition to your family/pack or if it’s just you and you want a loyal best friend, she’s your girl!

Griff would like you to know that he’s off the market! This little dude came to us late last year and became a regular at our weekly adoption events without any serious interest. His adopters saw him multiple times and couldn’t understand why he was still there. Well, it was because he was meant for them. ☺️
From the industrial lots in Sunland/Pacoima, begging for food a mechanics shop, so dirty he looked grey, not white…now he’s the king of the castle and enjoying the good life!

We’ll be back next Sunday 7/26 10:30-12:30 on Larchmont.
Meanwhile, please share our posts so we can get some dogs in homes and have space to save more lives.
We can really use some serious, committed fosters…Zizi, Hannah, Poppy, Stix, Hornet, Lightning, Osprey & Iris are all healthy, friendly and would benefit from more undivided attention and exposure (walks in a populated neighborhood).

Fostering doesn’t cost any money. It just costs some time, a true labor of love.
