The Rescue Train is a unique, non-profit 501(c)(3) no-kill organization dedicated to eliminating animal suffering and euthanasia through hands-on rescue work, education and awareness. We fulfill our mission through our key initiatives: rescue and rehome, shelter intervention, dedication to spay and neuter, and collaboration with other like-minded organizations. We aim to drastically reduce the num

ber of animals entering kill shelters and animals living on the streets of Los Angeles. Many of our life-saving programs help lay a foundation of lasting change through community outreach and celebrate the human-animal bond. Our Shelter intervention Program and Pet Pantry prevent animals from entering Los Angeles City shelters by providing resources to low income, senior citizens, veterans and homeless pet owners. We offer free spay and neuter to help solve pet overpopulation at the root of the problem. Our Pet Care Clinics go into areas of poverty to provide resources that includes vaccines, grooming, referrals to vet care, pet food and supplies.

💛 4-month-old female Chihuahua puppy named Nugget needs a foster or forever home ASAP!

This tiny whippersnapper was abandoned in a park before a kind senior citizen stepped in and rescued her. Now she needs another hero to help keep her safe. 🐾

The wonderful woman who saved her is elderly, uses a walker, and is already caring for several animals, so she simply can’t keep this sweet little girl.

Nugget is incredibly friendly, loves people, and just needs a safe place to land while we find her forever family.

🚂 The Rescue Train will provide her vaccines, spay and microchip. What she needs now is a home.

Meet Sweety. ❤️

This beautiful young German Shepherd (A2253294) is looking for a second chance.

She was recently adopted from the West Valley Shelter but has now been returned. The adopter shared that she was frightened by his children.

Sweety truly lives up to her name. She’s a sweet girl who needs a little extra time to feel safe and build trust.

Her shelter volunteer notes have been positive, and I believe she’ll thrive with someone who is patient, understanding, and willing to let her settle in at her own pace.

Because of her sensitivity, a home without young children would likely be the best fit.

Hope.

It begins with a single act of kindness.

A trapper who gets up before sunrise.
A foster home that opens its door to stray mom and her litter.
A spay.
A neuter.
A day when pet overpopulation doesn’t cause so much animal suffering.
A volunteer who gives their time.
A supporter who believes every life matters and makes all this possible.

Today, Oliver has hope. 💫

Sitting by the window, wearing his little cone, dreaming about the life that now lies ahead.

🐔🍌 We helped 34 chickens and bananas yesterday.

The temperatures were sizzling, but we didn't give a cluck. The Rescue Train's Snip Ship kept rolling, helping 34 animals get on track to brighter, healthier futures.

Because when it comes to saving lives... we're just bananas about it! Choo choooo!

Meet Gia! 🐷💕
Gia is a 10-month-old spayed female pig looking for a loving new home after her family experienced the heartbreaking loss of their home and could no longer keep her. Her owner is devastated and wants nothing more than to see Gia safe, happy, and loved again.

Gia is full of personality! She absolutely loves celery and carrots, enjoys fresh fruits and vegetables, and has been fed alfalfa pellets along with healthy veggie and fruit scraps from the home.

This smart little lady already knows several tricks, including sit and twirl. She also used to stand up and reach on command, though she’s getting a little too big for that these days! One of Gia’s favorite things is listening to music—especially Any Winehouse and Lana Del Rey. She’ll even happily listen while you sing the ABCs to her!

Gia has lived successfully with three large dogs—a Doberman and two Golden Retrievers—and she was the boss of the household! She was comfortable sharing her home with them and knew exactly how to hold her own.

Like many pigs, Gia does not enjoy being picked up, so she’ll do best with someone who understands and respects her boundaries.

❗Deputy ID has now been added to the urgent list! Which means he’s next on the kill list. He’s waited this long we can’t let that happen. I know the perfect match is here. Let’s keep sharing him and get him out of there before the weekend ends.

He’s currently the longest resident at East Valley Shelter (outside of the dogs who are in foster care). He’s been there since 11/13/25.

He came to the shelter as a stray. He was a year old when he entered the shelter system. Only a baby and he’s about to be 2 years old! Instead of growing up in a home he’s been stuck in a kennel for months.

He’s listed as a Labrador Retriever and weighs 78 pounds. He’s ready to go home with you and be besties. Stop at the shelter to adopt him today! Or consider fostering him. Aren’t able to do either? Share this post. Share the reel of him pinned to my page.
