The Rescue Train The Rescue Train’s deep-rooted goals are to be a voice for animals and to help save as many lives as possible.

The Rescue Train is a unique, non-profit 501(c)(3) no-kill organization dedicated to eliminating animal suffering and euthanasia through hands-on rescue work, education and awareness. We fulfill our mission through our key initiatives: rescue and rehome, shelter intervention, dedication to spay and neuter, and collaboration with other like-minded organizations. We aim to drastically reduce the number of animals entering kill shelters and animals living on the streets of Los Angeles. Many of our life-saving programs help lay a foundation of lasting change through community outreach and celebrate the human-animal bond. Our Shelter intervention Program and Pet Pantry prevent animals from entering Los Angeles City shelters by providing resources to low income, senior citizens, veterans and homeless pet owners. We offer free spay and neuter to help solve pet overpopulation at the root of the problem. Our Pet Care Clinics go into areas of poverty to provide resources that includes vaccines, grooming, referrals to vet care, pet food and supplies.

🕯️ Choose flameless candles and secure decorations.
👻 Skip costumes if your pet seems uncomfortable.
🏷️ Update ID tags and microchip contact info.
🏡 Keep pets indoors in a quiet, cozy space away from the front door.

Teamwork makes the dream work, and for Butters, it made a whole new life possible. 🧡

It started at our Snip Ship Mobile Clinic, where the TNR rockstar, Gail, brought in a friendly orange kitten she’d trapped in an industrial area of Arleta. She had nowhere for him to go and was facing the heartbreaking possibility of returning him to the streets.

But our amazing foster Laurie knew that another of our meow-velous fosters, Nicole, had a soft spot for orange kitties. Having recently lost one of her own, perhaps she’d be willing to open her heart and home to a little guy in need.

With The Rescue Train’s help, the kitten was tested, neutered, and vaccinated. Once his FeLV test results were back, Nicole got the call. Her answer? “Of course!” She named him Butters.

After who knows how long fending for himself, Butters needed a couple of weeks to decompress and settle into life at Nicole’s.

Then another connection brought everything together: a former adopter reached out to foster mom Jennifer because a friend was looking for a kitten.

It was love at first sight.

A trapper, a few fosters, our clinic team, and an adopter connection - each played a part in giving one little orange kitten a whole new beginning.

Now that’s teamwork! Congratulations, Butters! 😻

It’s and Bandit is ready for his next chapter. ❤️

If you’ve ever loved a pit bull, you’re well aware of how goofy they are, how wiggly they are, and how convinced they are that your lap was built for them.

Bandit is here to listen to you rant about your outrageous LADWP bill, the astronomical price of gas, and that coworker who’s testing your last nerve. No judgment. Just a head tilt and the occasional sloppy kiss. He’s got you!

He’ll make you laugh on your hardest days and give you a reason to stay on the couch a little bit longer. It would be rude to move him!

Bandit’s looking for someone to reassure him when the forecast says El Niño is coming in hot and we’re all going to fall in the ocean. Someone to share thrilling adventures like investigating a suspicious leaf or finding out who dared to walk past YOUR house.

Could that someone be you?

SNIP, SNIP, HOORAY for our amazing vet techs!

During National Veterinary Technician Week, we’re celebrating the hardworking veterinary technicians aboard The Rescue Train’s mobile spay/neuter clinic!

This job is not for the faint of heart! From early morning setups in the blazing heat or pouring rain to caring for the very last patient of the day, our vet techs bring incredible skill, compassion, and a whole lot of heart to every clinic.

Behind every animal we spay or neuter is a rockstar animal angel making sure they feel safe, receive exceptional care, and recovery.

Your dedication helps us prevent animal suffering for generations to come, gives pet owners a place to turn, and creates healthier futures for countless animals. We LITTERally couldn’t do it without you!

One look. One little face. One PURRfect match!

After losing her cat earlier this year, this adopter finally felt ready to welcome another furry family member. Her resident cat needed a buddy, and when she spotted Cooper on our website, she knew she had to meet him.

It was love at first purr! 🐱

Born on the streets alongside six siblings, Cooper got his start thanks to animal angel Nancy, who brought the entire family to safety.

Now he’s off to his FURever home, with a person who adores him and a new feline roommate to get to know!

Happy life, Cooper and family Here’s to a ton of snuggles and lots of great MEOWmories.

This , we’re sending a heartfelt THANK YOU to everyone working to make life better for the cats living in our communities. 🐈

Since launching our spay/neuter initiative in 2018, The Rescue Train has made TNR (Trap-Neuter-Return) a vital part of our work. Today, we dedicate a portion of our mobile spay/neuter clinics to community cats, helping reduce overpopulation and suffering on the streets of Los Angeles. Together, we’ve spayed and neutered thousands of cats!

To the dedicated trappers, caregivers, volunteers, and veterinary teams: thank you for the early mornings, long hours, endless patience, and compassion you bring to every cat.

Community cats need community care. Thank you for being a MEOWvelous part of theirs!

🐾 Four days after our 21st annual Race for the Rescues, the Train is back racing down the tracks! 🚂

There’s no time to rest when there’s a spay/neuter clinic to run! Your support keeps us moving, preventing unwanted litters and keeping more animals out of shelters.
