To all the PAWsome animal angels who signed up for our 20th Annual Race for the Rescues but weren’t able to attend due to the rain - we’ve got you covered! Your medals and T-shirts will be waiting for you at our Packet Pick-Up table during Samara’s Holiday Boutique.

✨ Coal was supposed to walk down the runway at our 20th Annual Race for the Rescues… but Mother Nature had other plans, and a torrential downpour kept our star pup home.

So today, we’re giving him the spotlight he deserves because this boy is truly something special. 💛🐾
Meet Coal, a 4-year-old pittie mix with a heart as big as his smile. Despite a tough start, he was surrendered by people who were not nice to him. Those days are far behind him. He’s safe now, surrounded by love, and ready for a family who will cherish him forever.

Coal is:
🐾 Housebroken & great on leash
🐾 Smart, playful, curious, and adventurous
🐾 Loving, loyal, and full of personality
🐾 Good with other dogs and did wonderfully with the cats he’s met
🐾 Apartment-friendly with plenty of outside adventures
🐾 A social butterfly who loves meeting new friends

He recently had a small medical episode that volunteers caught right away. He’s doing great and simply takes medication twice a day. It doesn’t slow him down at all. He’s active, happy, and ready for hiking, exploring, and being your everyday sidekick.

Coal holds a piece of the heart of everyone at Animal Relief Fund, and we know his perfect match is out there - someone who will see how extraordinary he truly is.

Raccoon had her runway moment ready to go at our 20th Annual Race for the Rescues but Mother Nature RSVP’d with a full-blown monsoon. 🌧️
Since she couldn’t walk in the show, we’re giving her the solo spotlight she more
than earned. ✨

Meet Raccoon, a 10-month-old, 56 lb, gorgeous mixed-breed girl with beauty, brains, and the energy of a professional athlete. She’s friendly with most large dogs, high-energy, and happiest when she’s doing things.

If you’ve been dreaming of a hiking buddy, adventure partner, or a future agility star… Raccoon is your girl. 🌲🏃‍♀️💨

This class-president-level overachiever loves to hop and bop with dog friends, but she’d also thrive as the only pup in an active, field-trip-loving home.

🎬🐾 RUNWAY RESCUES: The Show Must Go On!

Our Race For The Rescues adoption show may have been washed out by an atmospheric river, but the stars of the lineup are still ready to shine — and find their forever homes.

⭐️First up: SPOKES.
Since he couldn’t zoom down the runway, we’re hoping he’ll zoom straight into your heart.

Rescued and lovingly rehabilitated by race partner Pup Culture Rescue, Spokes is a tiny dachshund with a heart ten times bigger than his little body. He arrived paralyzed, in rough shape, and euthanasia-listed at the shelter. But with dedicated care, he has healed, blossomed, and is now so ready for his happily-ever-after.

Spokes is gentle, friendly with dogs and kids, and full of wiggles. He’s paralyzed and incontinent, but once you’re in a routine, his care becomes simple — and he’s doing amazing in physical therapy, even showing early signs of spinal walking. His therapy will continue to be funded thanks to donations raised for him, even after adoption.

All Spokes wants for the holidays… is a home.

A huge THANK YOU to our friends at Michelson Found Animals for standing with us at The Rescue Train’s 20th Annual Race for the Rescues, and for everything you do to save pets and enrich lives. 🐾💛

We honestly can’t tell you how many times Michelson Found Animals Foundation has encouraged us to think outside the box. From supporting our Shelter Intervention Program to cheering us on as we opened our own high-volume spay/neuter clinic, they’ve been with us every step of the way. And even with an atmospheric river hitting the Rose Bowl, their sponsorship and support never wavered.

🌧️🐾 RAIN OR SHINE — THE 5K & 1K ARE STILL ON! 🐾🌧️
The animals are counting on us, and we’re showing up no matter what!

The storm will affect our vendor expo and adoption show, but the race and your fundraising continue! We’re already at 85% of our goal — let’s finish strong!

Come prepared: rain gear, waterproof shoes, and anything your dog needs to stay safe and dry.

⚠️ Safety First:

Participation is voluntary — use caution in wet conditions.

First waves of runners: no dogs for safety (your timing is not affected).

No dogs with runners under 18, and no strollers in the 5K (strollers OK in expo).

Dog rules: 1 dog per adult, vaccinated, social, no retractable leashes, must be spayed/neutered, no puppies without full shots.

Stay aware, go at your own pace, and keep your pet safe.

🕖 Registration: 7 AM
🏃‍♀️ 5K: 8:30 AM
🐕 1K Dog Walk: 8:50 AM
💻 Online reg closes today at 3 PM (onsite available race morning)
