The single mark on my wrist doesn't look like much, and that's because my ArmOR Hand Glove prevented any significant damage. Had I not worn these very well-made bite gloves (designed by veterinarian Laura Catena DVM) you would instead be looking at three distinct sets of deep puncture wounds in my forearm (and I would be looking at a very hefty hospital bill). The worst case scenario, the Roadies & Rescues transport would have been canceled, putting 19 dogs and 1 cat at risk of being returned to the overcrowded shelters they were escaping just before euthanasia due to overcrowding.

Yes, I know these gloves are not cheap, but if you regularly transport rescue animals, either as a volunteer or a commercial transporter, they are an easily justifiable investment. Please don't take unnecessary chances, there's little room for error, and the animals are depending on us. 🙏🤝🦾🛡️

The back story: a very pregnant momma dog, was absolutely NOT going to let anyone handle her on our 7-24 Sacramento to Portland transport. She got snappy, I put on the gloves, and after a few painful bites, I decided she was going to remain in the original crate the relay driver brought her in. 😅😓

19 dogs, 1 cat, 18 hours! On 7-24 we started driving at 6:15a.m. and finished at 12:15 a.m. on 7-25! As always, Rebecca Martello at Pawsnetwork handled the logistics while we did the driving. And thanks to the following organizations 20 more wonderful animals avoided euthanasia in overcrowded California shelters: Oldies But Goodies Senior Rescue, South Coast Humane Society - the real one, BAMM Rescue, Jack Russell Rescue OWII, Stumptown Strays, Second Chance Kitty, Rescue Every Dog, Broken Promises Rescue , and Many Miles 2 Home Dog Rescue. One of the BAMM dogs, Slate, got to spend the night in the hotel with us and he was so well behaved. Such a sweet, chill doggo. 😊

Also, Match Made in Heaven Animal Rescue had 1 sweet lil guy (Otter) needing a ride from Corvallis back to Sacramento and we were happy to oblige. We got to stop in Eugene and have lunch with an old roadie friend, , who is currently driving a crew bus on the Bryan tour. Mat and I forgot to take a proper selfie but I did get to show off the setup of our Chevy Express cutaway van. 😊

Sac to Seattle w/ 28 dogs and 1 cat! On 7-6 we started driving at 6:15a.m. and finished at 3:00 a.m. on 7-7! Thanks to Rebecca Martello at Pawsnetwork for handling the logistics while we did the driving. Sac to Tacoma w/ 10 dogs and 1 cat! On 6-7-26 I left the North Bay area at 6:00 a.m. to pick up the rescue van in Sacramento. By 10:15 a.m. the critters were loaded and I left for Tacoma. Along the way I dropped off passengers in Medford, OR (South Coast Humane Society - the real one and Oldies But Goodies Senior Rescue); Roseburg, OR (Soul 2 Soul Animal Rescue And Sanctuary); Eugene, OR (Soft Paws Rescue-Oregon and SNIP of Siskiyou County); Salem, OR (Underdog Animal Rescue); Tualatin, OR (Mario’s Paw, Stumptown Strays, and BAMM Rescue); finally arriving in Tacoma at 11:30 p.m. (for Dalmatian Rescue of Puget Sound and Love & Second Chances).
