Happy Tail Friday!🥳

We're wrapping up the week with some wonderful adoptions to celebrate! We’re so grateful for every adopter who chose to open their heart and home to an animal in need, resulting in 9 dogs and 31 cats finding loving homes this past week!🥰

Today is National Cat Day! We're showing off two of our longest kitty residents - Forklift and Moxie!

Both cats are FIV-positive, but many FIV-positive cats live long, happy lives! FIV (feline immunodeficiency virus) affects a cat’s immune system and is spread primarily through deep bite wounds. Either way, both Forklift and Moxie would prefer to be the only pets in the home.

Forklift is a handsome 1-year-old black cat with the biggest cheeks! He came to us after being seized by the Syracuse Police Department. Forklift has feline asthma, and struggles with anxiety. Because of everything he’s been through, he can become overstressed, which has led to some behavioral challenges. Despite that, Forklift is a sweet boy who enjoys pets on his terms, LOVES playing with toys, and spends plenty of time lounging by the window.

Moxie is our 1 and a half year-old tabby beauty! She came to us with her kittens, who have all since been adopted, and now it’s Moxie’s turn to find her forever family. Moxie is loving, a great eater, and an absolute snuggle bug. She has so much love to give and is ready for a family of her own!

We would like to acknowledge and thank our dear friend and HumaneCNY volunteer, Natalie Scavone, for her generous donation of her 30-year collection of Stampin’ Up card making supplies. Thank you to all those who supported our sale this past weekend! What a wonderful gift and way to honor her dedication to HumaneCNY rescue shelter pets. We will have another smaller sale in early 2027, so stay tuned.

Serrano and Jalapeño 🐾🐾

Whether you consider them:
Two peas in a pod 🫛
The dynamic duo 💫
Like peas and carrots 🥕
They are more than a bonded pair. They are BEST FRIENDS (as well as brothers).

Serrano and Jalapeño arrived at Humane as transfers from another shelter after being brought in as strays. As you can probably guess by their names that they were initially a spicy duo 🌶. But these two have come a long way since their arrival to their foster home. These grey and black tabbies are 16 weeks old and described by their foster mom as 💫delightful 💫 😊

LIKES:
👍PLAYING! Wand toys, interactive floor toys, little stuffed toys, any toy.
👍 LOVE their food and LOVE treats. Treats have helped to build the trust.
👍 Each other. These two play exceptionally well together.
👍 Butt scratches 😸
👍 Looking out the window. 🪟

DISLIKES:
👎 Visits to the vet, but they're improving 🩺
👎 They aren't the biggest fans of being picked up but they have been improving in their foster home.

What's interesting about Serrano and Jalapeño? 🤔
👉 They are not very talkative, even in the car. They will sometimes coo-chirp. 🩷

👉 They have made great strides with interacting with people. They can still be skittish about sudden sounds and movements, or people approaching them from above. For this reason, they may do better in a home with older kids (12+) or no kids.

👉 Their foster home has two large, senior (at times grumpy) male cats and the kittens have been fine with them, though at times still acting like typical kittens when trying to engage with them. 🐈

👉 Serrano is the braver of the two. Jalapeño is a bit more cautious.

Who are you?
You get excited about each brave new development this duo makes. And you're patient when they may take a step back. You don't expect them to be super cuddly kittens and understand they may never be (but they might!), but you know they will get closer and closer to you as they build trust. And you have treats. Lots of treats. And lots of toys. 😸

🐾 Meet Our Longest-Resident Community Room Cats! 🐾

These three amazing cats have been waiting patiently for their forever homes, and it’s MORE than time for them to find their people! ❤️ Meet Moxie, Buoy, and Libby Lu!

🐱 Moxie – 2 years old | 160 days waiting

Moxie is a beautiful, chunky tabby girl whose kittens have all long since been adopted. Now it’s finally HER turn! Moxie is FIV-positive, but with a safe indoor lifestyle, FIV-positive cats can live long, happy, healthy lives. FIV is primarily transmitted through deep bite wounds, so because Moxie can play a little rough with other cats, she would do best as an only cat or with other FIV-positive feline friends. This sweet girl deserves a family of her own!

🐱 Buoy – 1 year old | 75 days waiting

We honestly don’t know how Buoy is still here! This handsome boy is calm, sweet, and loves his food. He’s an easygoing guy who truly does no wrong, and we can’t believe nobody has scooped him up yet! Buoy could make a wonderful addition to so many different families. Who’s ready to give this perfect boy a chance?

🐱 Libby Lu – 1 year old | 68 days waiting

If you’re looking for a cat bursting with personality, Libby Lu is your girl! This happy, outgoing beauty gets along with everyone, including other cats and humans. Walk into the community room, and chances are Libby Lu will be right there to greet you! She’s full of life, love, and companionship, and she’s ready to bring all that joy into her forever home.

💕 These three wonderful cats have spent far too long waiting for someone to choose them. They have so much love to give, and we would LOVE to see them finally get their happily ever after!

☕🐾 Meet our Coffee Cats, ready for their forever homes! 🐾☕

These three beautiful cats came to us alongside several other cats who have since been adopted. All were named after coffee drinks and have lovingly become known as our “Coffee Cats.” Sadly, they were taken in by SPD and brought to HumaneCNY. Now, it’s their turn to find loving homes!

☕ Tiramisu- Tiramisu is a HANDSOME 5-year-old LOVE BUG! You’ll likely find him curled up in his bed when you walk by his cage, but open his door and he comes flying over for attention! He adores pets, head kisses, and all the love you can give him. Tiramisu does have ear issues and will require a TECA surgery. Our vet care team would be happy to discuss what the surgery entails and the associated costs. He needs a little extra help with his ears, but he has SO much love to give in return!😻

🍀 Irish Cream- Irish Cream is a beautiful 4-year-old long-haired female. She also has ear issues, but luckily, she doesn’t require surgery! She just needs routine ear-cleaning maintenance. Irish Cream can be shy at first, but she warms up quickly, loves being pet, and will happily climb right into your lap❤️

🤍 White Chocolate Mocha- White Chocolate is a handsome 5-year-old male and the shyest of the group. He’s having a harder time opening up in the shelter environment, but he remains incredibly sweet and friendly. Even when he’s feeling shy, he still enjoys receiving pets! White Chocolate has ear issues in one ear that require daily maintenance. With a little patience and love, we hope he’ll feel comfortable enough to show his full personality in a forever home🐾

All three of our Coffee Cats have ear issues, and our veterinary care team would be happy to explain their individual needs and answer any questions from potential adopters!

Meet these 5 amazing cats who recently arrived at HumaneCNY! Lil Bit is the mama of Binks, Little Boy, Treasure, and Trinket, and they’re all ready to find their forever homes!

💕 Binks is a total mama’s girl who loves being by her mom’s side! She’s playful, friendly, and definitely has an appetite!

🐱 Little Boy is a handsome, hungry, and friendly dude who’s ready to find a family of his own!

💕 Treasure & Trinket are our adorable tabby twins, and we can barely tell them apart! These two girls share a suite in our community room and LOVEEE visitors, especially when they come bearing snacks!

🐾 Lil Bit is a beautiful Tortie mama who’s just as sweet as can be! She’s friendly, loves other cats, and is always up for some playtime.

After starting out as strays, these five are more than ready for the next chapter of their lives. They’re all incredibly friendly and would make wonderful additions to their future families!

🐾 Meet our newest adoptable kittens! 🐾

We don’t usually post kittens because they tend to find homes so quickly, but these five cuties are new to us and ready for adoption! ❤️

🐱 Meet Akamaru, Kurama & TonTon!

These 13-week-old siblings came to us as strays, and they had a pretty rough start. When they first arrived, they were extremely uncomfortable and covered in fleas. After getting treated and cleaned up, they were finally able to relax and let their adorable, outgoing personalities shine!

🐾 TonTon – Female, dilute tortie

These three absolutely adore each other and would love to find a home together, but they can also be adopted as a pair or individually!

🐱 Meet Kolbi!

Kolbi is a 15-week-old black-and-white boy who also came to us as a stray. He arrived incredibly skinny, but his happy, positive personality never wavered! He’s still a tiny guy, but don’t let his size fool you — this boy has a BIG appetite and eats like a champ! ❤️

🍬 Meet Funfetti!

Funfetti is a beautiful medium-haired kitten who came to us as a stray. She’s slowly starting to open up to us, but she’s having a harder time feeling safe here than some of the other kittens. ❤️

Funfetti just needs a little extra time, patience, and love to come out of her shell. We know that a safe, loving home is where she truly belongs! 🏡💕

All five kittens are hanging out in our kitten room, waiting for their forever families to find them. Whether you’re looking for a playful sibling duo, a confident little guy, or a shy sweetheart who needs some extra love, we have a kitten for you!
