Our goal is always to see patients as quickly as possible. Appointment slots will open up 24hrs in advance and are considered arrival times. All pets will be triaged by our medical team when they arrive.

Patients are generally seen in the order they arrive, and we will always aim to adhere as closely as possible to your selected arrival window. However, our urgent care operates using a triage based system and those with the most painful, critical or life-threatening conditions will be treated first.

We're heading into several days of hot, humid weather across Northern New Hampshire and Vermont. Temperatures will be climbing into the 90s and heat index values are expected to feel even warmer due to high humidity.

At these temperatures, dogs can quickly become overheated during routine walks, hikes, or backyard play.

Heat Exhaustion & Heat Stroke

Dogs cool themselves primarily by panting, which becomes much less effective when temperatures and humidity rise together.

Signs of heat exhaustion include:

• Excessive panting
• Heavy drooling
• Bright red gums
• Weakness or lethargy
• Vomiting or diarrhea
• Difficulty walking

Heat stroke is a life-threatening emergency. If your pet is collapsing, disoriented, unable to stand, or having seizures, begin cooling your pet with cool water and seek veterinary care immediately.

Protect Those Paw Pads

Sidewalks, asphalt, truck beds, docks, and even packed gravel can become hot enough to burn paw pads. If it's too hot for your hand to comfortably touch for several seconds, it's too hot for your dog's feet.

Never Leave Pets in Cars

Even on a day that feels pleasant to us, the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rise to dangerous levels within minutes. Cracked windows do not provide enough protection.

Heat Safety Tips

Walk early in the morning or later in the evening
Bring water on hikes and outings
Provide access to shade and air conditioning
Limit strenuous exercise during the hottest part of the day
Be extra cautious with puppies, senior pets, overweight pets, and flat-faced breeds

If you are concerned your pet may be suffering from heat-related illness, contact a veterinarian immediately. We are here 2pm to 10pm weekdays and 10am to 10pm Saturday and Sunday this holiday week and weekend if you need us. Stay cool and safe!

We had a wonderful surprise today 💕 One of our fantastic technicians Kelly and her husband Hunter visited with beautiful Amelia Ally ❤️ she was born 6/4 at 2:11am weighing 6 pounds 12 ounces and 19.25 inches long!! Congratulations to both of you!

Meet Midget! Midget and her family visited us this afternoon after being diagnosed with hyperthyroidism and needed some medication to help her feel better. She was such a cuddly love bug and was giving everyone head butts and happy purrs throughout her visit with us.

Hyperthyroidism is a common condition in older cats caused by an overactive thyroid gland. It can lead to symptoms like weight loss despite a good appetite, increased thirst, vomiting, hyperactivity, and changes in behavior. The good news is that with proper diagnosis and treatment, many cats can continue to live happy, healthy lives! If you notice any of these signs in your cat, schedule a visit with your veterinarian.
