🐾🐾Staff Spotlight: Kaylee🐾🐾

Meet Kaylee, one of the friendly faces on our Cantrell Animal Clinic team!

Kaylee has been a part of our team for over a year and is originally from Stuttgart, AR. She is the proud new mom to a beautiful baby boy and enjoys spending time with her fiancé and her lovable three-legged Golden Doodle, Max!

Kaylee has been in the veterinary field for 6 years, starting out as a receptionist and working her way up to Veterinary Assistant. Her goal is to become a Certified Veterinary Technician — and we have no doubt she’ll get there! Most recently, she has become the manager for our doggy daycare program, The Collar Club. She’s the master mind behind all of our fun daycare parties, and she knows each of our daycare friends by heart!

Outside of the clinic, Kaylee is a competitive country swing dancer and has been dancing for the past 4 years!

We’re so lucky to have Kaylee on the CAC team — her compassion, energy, and dedication shine through every day. Be sure to say hi next time you’re in the clinic!

📣🌟Staff Spotlight: Caivon🌟📣

This week, we’re shining the spotlight on one of our incredible veterinary assistants — Caivon!

A proud graduate of Oklahoma State University, Caivon has had a lifelong love for animals, which led him to pursue a career in veterinary medicine. With experience ranging from cattle and equine to companion animals, he brings a diverse and well-rounded skill set to our team.

Caivon is always eager to learn and grow, consistently stepping up to take on new challenges and support his teammates whenever needed. His positive attitude and fun-loving spirit bring so much energy to our clinic, and we’re truly lucky to have him as part of our work family.

Next Friday, April 18th, is Ballapaloza for our Collar Club🥳 🎾

What pup doesn’t want to spend the day chasing tennis balls?

We will be having group play (for our friends who love to play with others) and 1 on 1 play for our friends who prefer to play alone.

We will also have our usual enrichment hour for each of our furry friends to keep their minds sharp 🧠

🌟🌟 Staff Highlight: Shelby Greathouse, AS, BS, CVT 🌟🌟

Meet Shelby Greathouse—our incredible co-owner and Certified Veterinary Technologist here at Cantrell Animal Clinic!

Shelby earned his Associate of Science in Veterinary Technology and became a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) in 2023. Never one to stop learning, he went on to complete his Bachelor of Science in Veterinary Technology in 2024—becoming one of only seven veterinary technologists in the entire state of Arkansas!

Currently, Shelby is working toward not just one, but two Veterinary Technician Specialist credentials—in Surgery and Clinical Practice—with plans to be hopefully double-boarded in the near future.

Arkansas is one of the few states with an expanded scope of practice for veterinary technologist specialists, and Shelby is excited to step into the role of a mid-level practitioner to better serve our central Arkansas community. He has special interests in emergency medicine, surgery, and internal medicine.

In addition to his clinical expertise, Shelby wears many hats as the co-owner of Cantrell Animal Clinic, working hard behind the scenes to keep the clinic running smoothly from top to bottom.

We’re lucky to have his passion, drive, and leadership on our team!

🌟Staff Highlight: Brianne!🌟

This week, we're celebrating Brianne, one of our incredible veterinary assistants! She always brings a smile and a positive attitude to our team, making every day brighter for our staff, clients, and patients.

Brianne has a special talent for patient care, especially when it comes to our sick or hospitalized patients. She goes above and beyond to provide extra love and comfort, ensuring they feel safe and cared for during their time with us. A natural in the field of veterinary medicine, Brianne has picked up new skills quickly and continues to impress us with her dedication and compassion.

When she's not at work, Brianne loves spending time with her family and her two cats and beloved dog, Valentine. She also enjoys the outdoors, often finding time to hike and explore nature.

We're so grateful to have Brianne as part of our team- her kindness, hard work, and passion for animals make a difference every day! 🐾

⭐️⭐️A VERY IMPORTANT MEET OUR TEAM: STAFF HIGHLIGHT⭐️⭐️

We are so excited to announce the addition of a new veterinarian to our team! Join us in welcoming Dr. Colleen McCarthy!

Dr. Colleen McCarthy received her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine at St. George's University in Grenada, West Indies and finished her schooling at the University of Tennessee in 2021.

Dr. McCarthy is a passionate veterinarian originally from sunny Florida, now embracing the beautiful landscapes of Arkansas. Although she spent most of her career with cats and dogs, she has a special love for unusual animals. One of her most rewarding experiences was working at the South Florida Wildlife Center, where she treated everything from turtles to pelicans. Dr. McCarthy is very patient and loves to talk about the finer points of wellness with clients. There is no such thing as a dumb question!

When not working, Dr. McCarthy loves spending time with her mustang, Raven, and her Belgian Malinois, Halo. She shares her home with a menagerie of animals including parakeets, geckos, a grumpy chameleon, several snakes, and two jumping spiders!

We are so excited for you all to meet her!

Doctor Barnett’s grandson found this precious baby squirrel yesterday, so we are all enjoying this baby until he goes to his wildlife rehabilitator. 💜
