We love this sweet girl! 💕
Towards the end of April, this sweet older girl came to us after being abandoned in a home for over a year. Her owner had passed and she was left alone after losing her person, her only care being food and water dropped off by a family member. A friend of the family eventually found out and immediately took her in until a good home could be found.
We named her Subi, in honor of Subaru of Little Rock who has been a staunch supporter of our mission to rescue, rehome, spay, and neuter companion animals in Central Arkansas. From the beginning it was clear that Subi would need some extra love and so it felt appropriate to name her after a company that so clearly embodies care and compassion in our community.
Once our staff got her to a vet, it was clear that Subi had a lot of health issues due to neglect. She had infections, inflammation and discharge in her eyes, dental issues, and worst of all, a malignant mammary tumor...a direct result of never being spayed. Luckily, Cantrell Animal Clinic stepped up to the challenge. She was treated for all other issues and the tumor was removed. Subi found a new home quickly with an experienced Shih Tzu momma who was so happy to give Subi all the love and care she has missed out on.
Subi's story is a great example of the miracles that can happen when our community comes together to help make a difference: Subaru donated much needed funds to make our work possible, Cantrell Animal Clinic provided her specialized care and worked with us to give Subi the best possible treatment, and a volunteer foster opened up her home to make sure Subi could have the shelter and love she needed before and after surgery. When business and individuals come together to join our mission, we can change lives. ❤🐾
