Tiny paws, big milestones…Sweet Izzy visited us for her kitten wellness appointment and received her first FVRCP vaccine, deworming treatment, and FeLV/FIV & heartworm testing! These early visits are an important part of keeping kittens healthy as they grow.

The FVRCP vaccine helps protect against common and potentially serious feline viruses, while routine deworming and testing help us catch and prevent parasites and infectious diseases early on. Preventive care starts young, and Izzy is already off to a great start!

It’s National Rescue Dog Day and the numbers behind it matter more than ever.

Every year, about 2.8 million dogs enter U.S. shelters, and while roughly 2 million are adopted, thousands are still waiting for a home. In total, over 5.8 million cats and dogs enter shelters annually, with around 4.2 million finding homes, a reminder of both the progress and the continued need.

What you can do:
• Adopt when you’re ready, rescues come in all ages, sizes, and personalities
• Consider fostering to help free up space in shelters
• Make sure your pets are spayed/neutered to help reduce overpopulation
• Share adoptable dogs in your community, it truly makes a difference

Rescue dogs aren’t “less than” they’re just waiting for someone to give them a chance.

It’s National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day

A few quick tips to keep your furry family safe:
• Have a pet emergency kit ready (food, water, meds, leash/carrier, and comfort items)
• Make sure ID tags are up to date and your pet’s microchip is registered with current info
• Know where you can go, many shelters/hotels don’t allow pets
• Keep copies of medical records in an easy-to-grab spot
• Practice your evacuation plan so everyone (pets included!) is ready
