Carroll Anderson brought our speaker this week, Tomasa King, docent for Grand Saline Salt Palace. Tomasa has held this position for 12 years. She is very involved in her community, and loves the rich history of her hometown. She also serves on the Main Street Board, Museum Board and previously on the Chamber of Commerce. Grand Saline sits on the largest, purest salt dome in North America. Distance is 1.6 miles across the dome. They have enough salt there to last 20,000 years. They use a room and pillar design method and do both evaporative salt and rock salt. Formerly called Jordan Saline, named after John Jordan who developed the Saline Prairie. Grand Saline means “great salt”, named by the Cherokee Indians. 100 miles of road underground. 205 employees currently employed there. So interesting to hear about this nearby landmark/treasure.

Today’s speakers were Jeremy LaRue, Lindale Fire Chief and Asst Chief, Troy Pritchard of the Lindale Fire Department . They receive over 2200 calls per year (avg 5-7 calls/day), served by 3 stations in a 182 square mile area. They have round the clock staffing now. 66 people on the roster. Most are career firefighters elsewhere. They still have volunteers that can come in and help. Looking to build another station north of town. Lots of events coming up. National Night Out is 1st Tuesday (10/7) in October at Darden Park. Will also be set up at Countryfest 10/11 and will be involved in the Halloween event at Pickers Pavilion. They spoke on the new HB 198 (Wade Cannon Act) a bill that will ensure earlier, preventative medical screenings of occupational diseases for firefighters. October is Fire Safety Month. We are so thankful for our local firefighters and all they do for our community!

Thank you to Susan West for bringing today’s speaker, Danny Brown, Smith County Justice of the Peace Precinct 5. Danny was sworn into office on October 1, 2024. Brown served for 12 years as Tyler ISD Police Chief prior to that. Danny has lived in Lindale for 20 years. He and his wife own a daycare in Lindale, Crayon Clubhouse Learning Center, and have fostered children since 2015. They’ve adopted four children from the CPS system, and have adult children, as well. They truly have a heart for children. Danny was accompanied by his bailiff, Trey Glover, Smith County Constable’s Office. We got to hear of the many functions of the JP office and how Danny is fulfilling plans to clear up old files and cases. Such an interesting and informative visit with Danny Brown today! He has passion for his job and Smith County.💙

We were honored and blessed by our visit from the Canadian Lindale’s at our club meeting this week! Aleksander and Liliana Lindale made their first visit to Lindale, Texas while on their honeymoon in 2022. Each year they return for their anniversary and soak up all that Lindale and the Pineywoods of East Texas has to offer. Follow their journey and if you see them around, give them a warm East Texas welcome! Check out the news story on KLTV News about their visit.

We kicked off July thanking Doug Lowe for his past year of service as 2024 President and installing Ginger Sims as our new 2025 President. We were honored to be joined by Incoming District Governor Diane Kavanaugh and Assistant District Governor Brandi Henderson. We also installed all the officers pictured here. The Lindale Rotary Club was chartered in the mid 40’s. Rotary clubs are the local units where members connect, organize service projects, and build relationships. We have service projects and fundraisers throughout the year. From our fundraisers, we give back to our community through local non-profit organizations. July kicks off our new year. We meet each Tuesday at noon at ChristPoint Methodist Church.

Thank you to American Legion Jordan-Duncan Post 15, Lindale, TX for hosting the annual Rotary Club Free Kid Fish 2025

The morning air was warm and humid, typical for a June day in East Texas. Fortunately, a steady breeze rolled off the water at American Legion Lake, offering relief and setting the tone for a peaceful, family-focused day. Along the tree-lined banks, the sounds of children’s laughter blended with t...
