Happy National Cat Day!! Here's an appreciation post for our hard working felines at Patton Ag Etc. 😺

Fergie is an indoor cat. She works hard at catching mice, alerting us of snakes and catching bugs. She's also a great alarm clock. She loves snuggles, riding on our shoulders and hanging out in tall places. 🦜

Finn is an indoor cat. His hard work includes chasing shadows and attacking his "nanner" toys. He's a very annoying alarm clock when he's hungry. 😆

Meredith is a barn cat. She's still sometimes shy, but if you feed her she will let you pet her. She works hard at catching mice and likes to hang out in the barn. 🐭

Momma Fergs is a barn cat. She had been wild since we bought our place, but we can now pick her up and set her on our lap for about 30 seconds. She likes being pet, but only if it's her idea. She's great at catching mice, snakes, birds, bunnies, basically anything. She's the queen of the barn cats and they all know it. 👑

Silver is a barn cat. She loves being pet and to sit on your lap. She doesn't like being picked up. She doesn't do much work chasing mice but we still love her! She works hard at taking naps! 💤

Yang is a barn cat. She's a little shy but not as scared as her sister Meredith. She's good at catching mice and killing snakes. She also likes to hang out in the barn. 🐍

Clay Patton, a Dawson County Farm Bureau member, is a producer and grassroots leader committed to strengthening Nebraska agriculture and creating opportunities for the next generation.

Clay and his wife, Janell, operate a growing meat goat herd near Lexington, while his work in agricultural insurance, farm and ranch real estate and auctioneering allows him to serve farm and ranch families across the region. Farm Bureau has been an important part of Clay's own agricultural journey. He currently serves as President of the Dawson County Farm Bureau and on Nebraska Farm Bureau's State Legislative Policy Committee, and previously won the Nebraska YF&R Discussion Meet. Through those roles, Clay has advocated for policies addressing issues like land access, taxes and the transfer of farms and ranches to the next generation. He is also working to strengthen his county Farm Bureau through increased member engagement and community involvement. Looking ahead, Clay plans to continue growing his livestock operation while using his leadership and Farm Bureau involvement to help keep agriculture strong for the next generation.
