COURTESY LISTING — LET'S HELP JOJO FIND HIS NEXT CHAPTER!

Meet JoJo, a handsome 8-year-old silver Weimaraner in Hampton, Connecticut, who is hoping to find the right family to share his next adventure.

JoJo has spent nearly eight years with his current family, and they describe him as affectionate, playful, intelligent, a little quirky, and full of personality.

This boy loves the outdoors! Hiking, exploring, car rides, and spending time with his people are some of his favorite things. And when the adventures are over? He's more than happy to claim his favorite couch for a well-earned nap.

He's also a smart guy who knows quite a few commands. And if you happen to have peanut butter or turkey, we're told you'll have his full attention!

But JoJo needs a very particular kind of home.

His family reports that he can be reactive toward other dogs, especially on leash. We believe he would be best suited for an experienced Weimaraner household where he can be the only dog.

Because of his size and sometimes clumsy enthusiasm, a home without very young children would also be preferable.

JoJo's family has experienced some lifestyle changes and wants to find a home that can give him the activity, companionship, and understanding he deserves. This isn't an emergency placement. They want to take the time to find the right match.

A few things to know about JoJo:

- 8 years old, neutered male
- Approximately 98 pounds
- Located in Hampton, Connecticut
- Housebroken and accustomed to relaxing freely in the house
- Loves hiking, exploring, and car rides
- Best suited for an active, experienced home as the only dog

Important!!!!

**URGENT PET MEDICATION RECALL – PLEASE SHARE!**

We want to make sure our Tarheel Weimaraner Rescue family and fellow pet owners are aware of an important nationwide veterinary medication recall announced on October 21, 2026.

**Wedgewood Pharmacy has voluntarily recalled certain compounded veterinary medications** distributed nationwide between February 18 and October 6, 2026.

The concern? Some affected medications may contain too much or too little of their active ingredients. This could result in ineffective treatment, toxicity, or even an overdose.

According to the FDA, Wedgewood has received 98 complaints, including seven classified as serious.

**What pet owners need to know:**

This recall involves certain compounded prescriptions, including oral medications, injections, eye and ear medications, topical treatments, and other formulations.

**Not all Wedgewood Pharmacy medications are affected.** Specific medications, lot numbers, and expiration dates determine whether your pet's prescription is included.

If your pet's medication is on the recall list:

- Stop using the recalled product and keep the container.
- Contact your veterinarian immediately to discuss a safe replacement or alternative treatment.
- Do not change dosages or substitute medications without veterinary guidance.

One important reminder: Some medications are essential for managing serious or chronic health conditions. If your pet relies on one of these prescriptions, please work with your veterinarian promptly to avoid an unsafe interruption in treatment.

We are sharing this because protecting animals doesn't stop with the Weimaraners in our care. Every pet deserves to be safe.

Retrieving the quail is one thing. Giving it up is another!

We've been working on her release, and it's definitely one of the tougher parts of training for her.

It's moments like these that remind me how much patience and consistency go into working with these dogs. Every little bit of progress matters.

Over the past several days, we've been asking for help. And you have answered with an incredible outpouring of kindness, encouragement, shares, messages, and offers to open your homes.

**From the bottom of our hearts, THANK YOU!** 💙

When we shared the news about the Weimaraners needing our help, we knew we were asking a lot of our community.

What we weren't prepared for was just how many wonderful people would step forward, including people from well beyond North Carolina and South Carolina!

And that means more to us than you may ever know.

We've also received questions about why our foster families must be located in NC or SC when we can adopt our Weimaraners to families outside those states.

**That's a great question, and we'd love to explain!**

🏡 **FOSTERING VS. ADOPTING — WHY LOCATION MATTERS**

When a Weimaraner enters our rescue, their foster family becomes an essential part of our day-to-day rescue operations.

Fostering isn't simply providing a temporary place to sleep.

It means working closely with our rescue team while we get to know each dog's needs, coordinate veterinary appointments and medical care, help with transportation, evaluate behavior and temperament, and prepare that dog for a successful adoption.

Having our foster families located within **North Carolina and South Carolina** allows us to provide the hands-on coordination, communication, and support these dogs and their foster families deserve.

We want every dog who enters our rescue to have the best possible experience, and keeping our foster network within our service area helps us accomplish that.

🐾 **BUT WHAT ABOUT ADOPTION?**

Adoption is different!

Once a Weimaraner is ready for their forever home, **we can consider approved adoptive families outside North Carolina and South Carolina.**

Our goal is to find the RIGHT forever home for each dog, even when that home is beyond the Carolinas.

Please know how much we appreciate you!

While we may not be able to place a foster dog with you through Tarheel, there may be a Weimaraner rescue closer to your home that would LOVE to have your help.

We encourage you to reach out to your local rescue and ask about their foster needs.

Because at the end of the day, this isn't about which rescue gets the foster home.

**It's about helping MORE DOGS find safe places to land.**

When one rescue gains a foster family, the entire rescue community benefits.

And most importantly, another dog gets a chance. 🐾

Southern dogs have a completely different definition of roughing it...Oh the horror the temp is below 70 degrees at night now..

These dogs were bred to hunt, work, and handle the great outdoors.
Mine? Apparently, they're preparing to survive a mild breeze from the comfort of their blankets.
And let's be clear, they aren't the least bit embarrassed about how spoiled they are.

Please tell me I'm not the only one raising four-legged blanket hogs!
Does anyone else have a dog that thinks a blanket is a basic necessity?
