Helping Hands Rescue (HHR) observed a great need in our community to assist, rescue, foster, provide medical care and love for the unwanted, homeless, neglected and abused animals in our area. ization works diligently to reduce the population of homeless/unwanted animals through promoting and supporting an early spay/neuter. We do our very best to find loving and forever homes for all of the animals in our care. This is Dusty, the dog found in the Blue Mountains with a bullet wound in his hind let. We weren't able to save his leg so last week it was amputated. He's doing great. We think that big ole cone bothers him more than anything! He's a very sweet boy and still has a few more weeks of recuperation.

Pretty Asha is a 2 yrs old female chihuahua weighing 6.5 lbs. She loves to sit on your lap but also enjoys exploring the great outdoors. She does well with other dogs and cats. Sometimes she gets excited and will bark and yip to show you how just how excited she really is. Asha is house trained and uses a doggie door. There are times she needs to be reminded to go outside! Sweet little Weebee is a 6 month old CH (Cerebellar Hypoplasia) kitty. This is a congenital condition where the cerebellum (responsible for coordination) is underdeveloped, causing wobbliness and tremors. She is a bit clumsy, sometimes tripping and stumbling. She is able to get on her foster's bed and couch. Weebee just loves attention! She is a very sweet, affectionate and playful girl. She would do well with a younger cat/kitten. Dogs are unknown. ADOPTED! Yoda (11-26-18), with the blue harness, and Charlie (3-9-23) are the sweetest cuddle pugs! Yoda is Charlie's father (and the father to the pug babies we just had). They are neutered & current on vaccines. Charlie and Yoda want nothing more than to sit on your lap or snuggle in bed. They use a dog door, both are kennel trained, good with kids and other dogs. Charlie will chase a cat to try and play. His foster is working on that. Overall, they are great boys!! They are very bonded and would like to stay together. Re*****on is a 5 month old Grey Hound/German Shepard/lab cross who loves to play with toys and run through the creek. He's been very good with the other farm animals, including the chickens. He's a large puppy needing a fenced yard and he'd like another dog to play with. Re*****on absolutely loves kids! His helicopter ears give him a distinct look of character. Bella was born 12/2/2024. She is a very spunky girl, full of personality. She doesn’t have separation anxiety which is great, and is left in the house free roaming during work hours. Bella has a mind of her own and the energy to match it. She would benefit from an active household that would show patience. Bella is scared to meet new dogs for a minute or two, and then becomes their best friend. She needs help with the initial meeting. She is a very sweet girl who is all puppy!
