Kerfluffle Fiber Farm

Kerfluffle Fiber Farm Welcome to Kerlfuffle Fiber Farm, the home of the Hooded Infinity Scarf! My name is Mandy McDonald. Welcome to Kerfluffle Fiber Farm and Homestead.

I am living my best life with lupus, while homeschooling three kids on our small fiber farm and working my small handmade business. My name is Mandy. I am a Licensed Veterinary Technician, mother, home schooler, crafter extraordinaire, farmer and homesteader. After spending 5 years in emergency Veterinary Medicine and 4 years in small animal and exotics, I decided to trade in my stethoscope for a

shovel and combine both my passion for animals and my love for creativity and art. And so Kerfluffle Fiber Farm was born. It was not long before I had acquired my first herd of Alpacas from one of Maine's premier Alpaca breeders. Followed by a small herd of German Angoras and a few babydoll sheep. I was well on my way to having the fiber farm of my dreams. While the fiber farm is my love I have another passion in life. This passion is one of self sustainability, and a healthier lifestyle through the art and heritage of homesteading. In 2013 I purchased my first trio of silver fox rabbits to raise for consumption and fur. I have also added poultry, laying ducks and chickens. My goal is to eventually have a large garden and a colony of bees. I deeply enjoy learning and the sharing of the knowledge that I have acquired with others. Client education about animal care and husbandry is a top priority of mine. I also love to give demonstrations on different aspects of the fiber arts.

Hi super, awesome, fabulous friends!!

I wanted to hop on here with an update.

As some of you know this past winter has been extremely difficult for me health wise and my quality of life went down fast.

It left me unable to do many of the things I love like sewing and working with my goats.

I was able to meet a new doctor in March and he started me on Ivig treatments last April. I get a dose every 4 weeks.

Yesterday was my 2nd infusion. We had to start me a very low dose because I am so sensitive and had a lot of side effects but we will be working up to a more therapeutic one.

I am so grateful and excited to finally have the opportunity to get better.

While I have been unable to sew I have been working on my art when I can.

I have lots of new fabric just waiting for me and I can not wait to feel better and get back to what I love.❤️

Thank you all for sticking around while I go through this and giving me your love and support. It means the world to me.

Wow, I am still in shock but just had to share this with my Kerfluffle Family.

You all have always been there for me through all of this and I want to share this special moment with you.

Thank you for encouraging me, loving me and always sending me love and support when times were touch and when they were great.

I am so blessed to have you all.❤️🙏
Thank you,

Hi Super, Awesome, Fabulous friends!

I was hoping to do a live video today, but I am just not feeling well enough.

I know that I have been missing for the past month, and that was not my intent. I have been struggling with my health quite a bit. I had to take a medical trip to Florida, which was followed by leg surgery when I returned (which has probably caused a lot of my flares). I will need to have the same procedure done on my other leg in a few weeks.

Due to my surgery, I was not able to stand or sit for long periods of time and was therefore unable to do more sewing or product photography.

My website was nearly finished when all of this began, but I still needed to photograph my spring collection and remaining accessories, and I was unable to get to those before everything happened.

While all of this was going on and I was stuck in bed, I was able to send many of my watercolor paintings to a studio in Portland, Maine — Maine Photo Works — to have my work professionally digitized.

While I was resting, I was also able to work on editing my paintings and creating an Etsy shop with prints and accessories featuring my artwork.

It wasn’t what I had originally planned to work on, but it has been a long-term goal of mine, and it felt great to be able to work on something while I was really struggling.

During this time, I also received a call from a local restaurant that wanted to exhibit my work! My husband helped me frame everything and brought me to The Brunch Club to set up my paintings. :)

If you are in the Rochester area, you can stop by and see my work while enjoying some delicious food.

Since I have been unable to do a Kerfluffle Giveaway last month and this month, I wanted to include everyone in my first Mandy McDonald Art Giveaway.

Once I am recuperated from my final procedure and able to sew again, I will be back with a website launch date and some spring giveaways. :)

Until then, you are welcome to join in the watercolor fun! If you are interested in following my art journey, please feel free to follow my page.

I will be back, I promise!

Love you all!

✨ A Little Sneak Peek… ✨

I’ve been quietly working behind the scenes on something really special…

After years of selling primarily through Facebook, I’m finally building my own online boutique for Kerfluffle Fiber Farm — a place where my hooded infinity scarves will have a true home.

Right now, I’m stocking the shop, writing listings, photographing each piece, and getting everything ready for launch.

These are just a few of the heavyweight flannel favorites that will be available first… 👀
Buffalo checks, cozy plaids, timeless staples — all handmade right here in Maine.

The shop isn’t open just yet, but it’s coming soon… and I cannot wait to share it with you.

💛 Thank you for being here and supporting my work as I take this big step.

Grand Opening Date TBD — stay tuned!

Working on some Length description photos for the website/shop. 😍

What do we think of this?

I tried using the mannequin to display both sizes but it wasn't working out as well as hanging them.
