The Northest Georgia Animal Shelter is an open admission, non-profit Shelter, supported financially by private donations and funds from eight city and county jurisdictions. We often take in sick and injured animals, feral cats and wild dogs. In these cases, it is our obligation to humanely end the suffering of these animals. We strive to get all of our animals adopted, and often work with rescue g

roups and other local shelters to achieve this. Our maximum capacity is 160 animals. Currently our adoption rate is 30% and we are working hard every day to increase it. We also have a 50% RESCUE rate! Thanks to all the rescues that pull from us. We are very rescue friendly.

🫐 Meet Blueberry! 🫐

This sweet girl is as adorable as her name! Blueberry is a 1-year-old, 40-pound, black and white mixed breed who is already altered. She was found wandering on Richardson St. in Hartwell and was brought to the shelter so she could stay safe while we search for her family.

Blueberry has been nothing but sweet, and we're hoping someone recognizes her precious face. We know there could be someone out there wondering where she is, and we'd love nothing more than to help bring her home.

❄️ Meet Everest & Summit! 🏔️🐺

These two handsome Husky mixes were found roaming together around Shoal Creek Crossing in Lavonia and were brought to the shelter by Hart County Animal Control to ensure they were safe.

🐾 Everest is a 4-year-old black and white Husky mix, 47 lbs, male, and already altered.

🐾 Summit is a 3-year-old tri-colored Husky mix, 50 lbs, male, and unaltered.

It's easy to see these boys have been sticking together, and we're hoping someone recognizes them. They may be enjoying all the attention they're getting at the shelter, but we're sure they'd much rather be back home with the family that's missing them.

Say hello to Nubbins! 💕🐶

This sweet girl was found roaming on Bald Eagle Rd in Carnesville and is now safe at the shelter. Nubbins is a beautiful cream-colored mixed breed weighing 42 lbs, and she is currently unaltered.

Nubbins is hoping someone out there recognizes her sweet face and is missing her. We know there may be a family searching for this beautiful girl, and we want to help get her back home where she belongs. ❤️

🚨🐾 STRAY ALERT: A SPECIAL PAIR NEEDS YOUR HELP! 🐾🚨

Meet Murdock & Elektra ❤️

These two sweet souls were found together on Leard St. in Hartwell and brought to the shelter by a kind person who wanted to make sure they were safe.

🐾 Murdock — 6 years old, male Pit Bull, 41 lbs, grey and white, and blind.
🐾 Elektra — 3 years old, female Pit Bull, 42 lbs, black and white.

These two are more than just shelter friends — they have clearly shared a life together and are looking for the family who may be missing them. Murdock may not be able to see the world around him, but he knows comfort, love, and safety, especially with Elektra by his side. ❤️

Both Murdock and Elektra are heartworm positive and are hoping someone recognizes them and helps bring them back home.

Our dog Cooper went missing this morning at 4:00am. He’s a 14 year old daschund, black and tan but has white face and legs due to his age. He also has like black moles on his face, like the pic. This pic was just taken yesterday. He’s been having back problems so his back is a little bowed and he walks slow and sometimes wobbly. He has his brown leather collar and tags on. Meet **Coblet** and **Pippa**, two sweet pups hoping someone recognizes them! ❤️

🐶 **Coblet** is a **6-month-old Terrier mix**, **male**, and **unaltered**.
🐶 **Pippa** is a **2-year-old**, **female**, and **unaltered**.

These two were found together near **Royston Rd. in Carnesville** and are now safe at the shelter. While they're receiving plenty of love and care, we'd much rather see them reunited with the family that's missing them.

Grateful for Community Partnerships ❤️

A huge thank you to Hart County Humane Society and their dedicated volunteers for taking Roxy and Rusty to their adoption event at PetSmart!

Because of your time, compassion, and commitment, these two wonderful dogs are spending tonight in loving homes instead of a shelter kennel. Partnerships like these truly save lives, and we are so grateful to work alongside organizations and volunteers who share our mission of helping animals find the families they deserve.
