We aim to impact the severe overpopulation problem in the south by not only rescuing animals, but also helping through educating the public, community outreach, foster networks, and transport programs. Our building is being remodeled but we aren't letting that slow us down! We are actively saving animals thanks to a network of local foster families. Since we are small and we cannot take every anim

🚨 BUDDY NEEDS OUR HELP! 🚨

Our sweet Buddy and his new siblings were settling into their new life together beautifully. Unfortunately, when their mom came home from work, everyone got excited at once and a fight broke out over who would get her attention first.

Buddy suffered several deep gashes and needed emergency medical care immediately. He is currently being treated at Gulf Coast Emergency Vet and has already required stitches.

The emergency visit alone cost $630 just to walk through the door. Right now we have an estimate of $2,000 plus the $630. $2,630. He is staying the night. They are suspecting nerve and muscle damage. They won’t know more until he’s under anesthesia.

Buddy has already been through so much, and now he needs his village to help him once again. Every donation, no matter the amount, will make a difference in his recovery.

Our sweet Buddy has finally been able to rest his head in a new home with his new siblings. 🧡

Mrs. Susan was eager to take on Buddy and loved him before she even laid eyes on him. With 3 dogs already in her home, she still opened her heart and welcomed Buddy with open arms. Even while grieving the loss of his beloved mom who we miss dearly every single day. Buddy was faced with the challenge of leaving his comfort zone and adjusting to a completely new environment.

At first, he was unsure. New faces, new routines, and new siblings can be overwhelming for any dog, especially one carrying so much grief. But with patience, love, and understanding, Buddy has started to settle in beautifully. His new siblings have helped him feel safe again, and little by little, his happy spirit is shining through.

Seeing Buddy loved, comfortable, and beginning this new chapter gives us so much peace. While he will always carry the love of his mom with him, we are beyond grateful knowing he now has a family ready to continue loving him just as fiercely.

Hey SCAR Friends - Please meet Tim, the charming gentleman you've been waiting for! 🐾 Isn't he a handsome dude!! He is currently living his best life in a foster home with some amazing folks who are showering him with love and care, but unfortunately, his time is running out to find his forever home. 🕰️ Tim is a sweet and well-behaved boy most of the time, but let's be real, he does think fences are made to go over, so a secure yard is a must! 🏃‍♂️ His biggest obstacle is that he is deaf, but that hasn't stopped him one bit - he's learned to adapt and thrive! 💪 We feel he would do best as the only dog in the house or maybe with one friend around his size, so he can get all the attention he deserves. 🐶 His foster parents are more than happy to answer any questions you may have and offer their expertise on how to work with deaf dogs - they've got tons of experience! 🤓 However, they can't keep him forever, so we need your help to find him a permanent home. 🏠 If you think you'd like to meet Tim and see if he's the perfect fit for you, please message our page and we'll make it happen! 💬 Don't let this sweet boy slip away - he's waiting for you! 🐾❤️

Butter's indomitable spirit serves as a shining beacon of hope! 🌟 Despite the challenges, she's demonstrating remarkable resilience and fortitude. Yesterday's medical consultation yielded promising outcomes, including a tailored diet and medication regimen to address her coughing and breathing difficulties. The most heartening news is that her cardiac health is thriving and full of vitality! ❤️ As evident, medical appointments can be exhausting, but Butter is rapidly regaining her energy. Her foster mom says after a good nights sleep finally - Butter was up and ready for work this morning. That means sitting on mom's feet while she works LOL!!! Your support and encouragement are invaluable to us! ✨ Meet Charlie ✨

Charlie is a miracle in puppy form and is looking for a very special forever home. 💛

At around 4 months old and 6 pounds, this neutered little guy has already overcome more than most dogs ever will. Charlie was thrown out when he was only days old and suffered neurological damage as a result. Despite that heartbreaking start, he has fought his way forward every single day — and his vet is amazed by how well he’s doing, even calling him a miracle.
Charlie is very wobbly when he walks and may always be a little unsteady, but he gets around just fine and doesn’t let it stop him from enjoying life. He loves attention, playtime, and being around people and other animals.

Because of his condition, Charlie cannot/will not drink water from a bowl normally, so he will always need wet food or dry food soaked with water to stay hydrated. His future family will need to understand and commit to that special need.

Charlie deserves a family who sees how special he truly is — not despite his differences, but because of them. He’s resilient, loving, and proof that tough beginnings don’t define the rest of your story. 💙 #💙

I know I am! ☁️ Let me introduce you to the sweetest little bundle of joy, Gabby! 🐾 She's a 4-month-old, 14-day-old cutie who's been through a lot already. She came to us with ear issues that required surgery on both ears, but don't worry, she's all better now and ready for her forever home! 🙌 She's been an absolute sweetheart at the rescue, playing on her own and never crying in her kennel. She seems to be very well-behaved and would thrive with a family who can give her all the love and attention she deserves. 🥰 What's more, she would absolutely adore having kids to play with and be her best buddies! 🤩 And the best part? SCAR FRIENDS, I want to start with saying SCAR is at critical mass. We have 50 animals in house at the moment. Some of you may say well that’s not a lot – but our facility is overrun at the moment. We have multi dogs in rooms and kennels in the office because we are completely out of space. However, we get fussed at everyday multiple times because we can’t help and people say what are you there for if you can’t help us. I’ve had people offer money for us to take their dog but if we have no space with have no space.
We are a no kill facility which means an animal stays with us until a home is found or until their death. We have residents who have been with us since puppies, Reese and Chase are our longest residents at the moment they have been with us since 2021. Both are great dogs, but Reese needs to be the only dog. People shy away from Chase because he is older. We have several seniors in our facility – who need homes.
These dogs are adults who are not usually accepted for northern transport because right now transports has slowed to a snail pace due to high volume being sent from all the shelters across the south. The market is flooded so to speak. We are very lucky if we can get one or two accepted each month. Without your help we are at a standstill – We would love to help more and do what we can each day. But guys we need you to step up and help us out. We are not giving dogs away to be turned loose to be homeless or abused again. We will require an application to be filled out and our Board will go through each one.
I also need you to understand we have a very small staff that is very very underpaid because we can only pay based on donations we receive. We have been trying for months to hire additional staff, but people want more money than we have or they try it and don’t want a job that requires getting dirty. We have a van that has been in the shop off and on for months that really needs replacement. We are very carefully trying to fix cottages where dogs have torn up the walls – or broke thru the walls. We just purchased new washers and dryers and that was expensive.
We are not trying to be ugly we are begging for help – we need homes, fosters, volunteers, donations. If you can help or have any ideas on how to help us get these dogs out of rescue into homes – please please let us know.
