Join us in congratulating Emily and Nayeli on their acceptance to veterinary school! It is hard to say goodbye to these incredibly valuable team members, but we are so proud of them. Emily will attend Colorado State University. Nayeli will attend Midwestern University. We will miss them so much, but are very excited for their ongoing contributions to the veterinary community!

🌷 AHLC Field Day 2026 🐾

This past Sunday, the Animal Hospital of Las Cruces team got together for one of our favorite traditions of the year: Field Day!

We spent the afternoon at Four Hills Park enjoying sunshine, fresh air, and great company outside the clinic. The team had a blast playing basketball, flying kites, listening to music, sharing good food, and plaing in a fun plastic axe throwing game. It was the perfect way to kick off the spring season and spend time together outside of the hospital.

Events like this remind us that while veterinary medicine can be challenging work, it’s also incredibly rewarding when you have a strong team supporting each other. Taking time to relax, laugh, and connect helps us come back to work even stronger for the pets and families we care for every day.

A big thank you to our amazing staff who came out to celebrate together. And of course, thank you to the Las Cruces community for trusting us with your pets and allowing us to do the work we love. Your support is what keeps us going.

Here’s to spring, teamwork, and another great year helping animals live happy, healthy lives. 🐶🐱🌼

💘🐶 Be My Valentine… Safely! 🐶💘
Love is sweet… but not that sweet!
This Valentine’s Day, keep the chocolate kisses for your sweetheart — not your sweet pup! 🍫❌
Chocolate contains theobromine and caffeine, which can be dangerous (even toxic) for dogs.
And while champagne makes humans sparkle… 🍾✨
Even a tiny sip of alcohol can upset your dog’s tummy and affect their nervous system.
Instead, treat your furry Valentine to:
🦴 A special dog-safe treat
🎀 A new squeaky toy
💕 Extra cuddles and belly rubs
Because the only thing your pup should be intoxicated by…
is LOVE! ❤️🐾

❤️🐾 AHLC Valentine’s Day Potluck = Love Served Daily 🐾❤️

At Animal Hospital of Las Cruces, Valentine’s Day isn’t just about candy and roses… it’s about celebrating the team that shows up every day with huge hearts for your pets.

Our staff brought in some seriously delicious food to share, from sweet treats to savory favorites, and turned our break room into a full Valentine’s spread. 🍰🍓🥗🥓

Why?

Because loving animals is what bonds us.
Teamwork is what fuels us.
And food… well… food keeps the veterinary industry running. 😄

This potluck wasn’t just about amazing desserts and delicious pasta salad. It was about taking a moment to appreciate each other, recharge, and celebrate the relationships that make AHLC what it is. When a team genuinely cares about each other, that same care carries directly into how we treat your pets.

We’re grateful for this crew and grateful to serve the Las Cruces community with heart every single day. 💕

Scroll through the photos and videos to see the spread. Warning: do not view on an empty stomach.

🌸🐱 Valentine’s Day PSA for Our Cat Families 🐱🌸

We love flowers. We love cats.
Unfortunately… some flowers and cats are not a good match. 💔

Around Valentine’s Day, the most dangerous flowers for cats are lilies including Day, Asiatic, and Tiger lilies. Even a very small nibble or a bit of pollen on their fur can cause serious kidney injury.

Other flowers commonly found in bouquets that are not cat friendly include:
• Tulips
• Daffodils
• Peonies
• Carnations
• Hydrangeas
• Baby’s breath

These can cause vomiting, diarrhea, and other health concerns if chewed on.

We are not here to cancel Valentine’s Day. We are here to help you celebrate it safely. 💕

If you are gifting flowers this year and have a cat at home:
🌷 Ask your florist for cat safe options
🌷 Keep bouquets out of reach
🌷 Consider roses as a safer alternative

And if you ever think your cat may have chewed on a questionable plant, call us right away. The sooner we help, the better the outcome.

Let’s keep the love flowing in Las Cruces and keep our kitties safe while we’re at it. 💖🐾
