Happy Father's Day to Dr. Jarman! It's a common sight to see this little cowboy following his hero around on ranch calls and in the barn! Sharing his love of large animal medicine with the next generation!

Dr. Jarman has been diligently treating our large animal patients for any wounds or injuries and applying prevention for screwworm. We recommend checking livestock animals daily and closely monitoring for wounds. (Beware, the end of the video shows a large laceration!)

Yesterday Dr. Jarman had multiple ranch calls to establish a Veterinarian-Client-Patient Relationship (VCPR). What does this mean? We as veterinarians are required by law to physically see a patient before we can provide treatment, prescribe drugs, or even offer advice. This is required by the American Veterinary Medical Association and the Texas Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners, and it is even specific that this relationship cannot be established via virtual appointment. This is especially important right now for our livestock owners. If we have physically seen livestock animals for an owner within the past year and are well acquainted with their operation, we are able to prescribe medications for prevention of screwworm. If we do not have that relationship, then we legally cannot provide or prescribe any medications. This also goes for our small animal patients that need a prescription for Credelio, which is our flea and tick prevention that is approved for prevention of screwworm. If your pet is not a current patient, we cannot prescribe this medication to you.

King came in to see us last week for grooming and de-shedding! He was so proud of his pile of hair, and we bet he's so much cooler without it!

We've got the Dynamic Duo back together! Many of you know Erick as our long time large animal technician while we were mobile, now he's just finished his first year of vet school at Texas Tech! We're happy to have him back to hone his skills this summer before heading back to school! The whole team worked seamlessly last week to castrate this c**t so that he can be a well behaved equine citizen!

Heads up to any of our clients planning travel to Mexico! Currently all animals, including pet dogs and cats, are not allowed to travel to Mexico due to the recent detection of Screwworm in the United States.
