It was an extra fun weekend for Cori who went out for a sleepover to shake things up! 🐶The adventures started at Tractor Supply where he patiently greeted lots of new friends. From there, he hopped in the car to head to a grad party where he showed off his leash skills while working on his confidence. The fun wasn't over yet - he still had puppy playdates with a new little friend and also with his BFF Penny, a fellow 12:10 dog!🩷🩵

Overall, it was an awesome time! Cori rides great in a car, is crate-trained, and fits right into a home environment.

Cori is looking for a foster or adopter. He's an incredibly sweet guy who loves all dogs (no cats). 1 year old Pitty, about 50 lbs, neutered and up to date on vaccines. Cori is a nervous dog and will do best in a home with another dog to help with his confidence 💖 Please help us find his people!

We have had incredible outreach on Captains adoption. This guys has a HUGE fan club and we are so humbled at how many have reached out about him. But we would like to take the time to use this as an important lesson.

There is a saying in rescue that the right dog finds the right family at exactly the right time. We spend so much time worrying about timelines. Wondering why one dog is adopted immediately while another waits months. Wondering if we're doing enough. Wondering when their person will finally come.

Then God reminds us that His timing is not ours.

Captain waited longer than most. Not because he was forgotten, unworthy, or because there wasn't a plan.

Because somewhere, there was a man named Dennis who needed him quite yet.

Yesterday, Captain celebrated his Gotcha Day. And as joyful as we are for Captain, our hearts are even more grateful for the reminder this story brings. We may transport the dogs, foster them, train them, advocate for them, and pray over them, but time and again God shows us that He is the One weaving every thread together. When we cannot see the purpose in the waiting, He already sees the home, the family, and the love waiting on the other side.

Thank You, Lord, for every unseen detail, every answered prayer, and every perfect moment that arrives in Your perfect time. Captain's story is a beautiful reminder that Your plans are always greater than our own. And to our incredible rescue community—our adopters, fosters, volunteers, donors, transporters, and supporters—thank you. Stories like Captain's are only possible because of your faith, patience, and willingness to show up for dogs in need. We are so incredibly grateful and blessed to be on this journey with each of you and Him leading the way. ❤️🐾

Some dogs come into rescue and find their forever homes right away.

Then there are dogs like Captain.

When we first saw him, he was all over social media. After spending a year in a kennel, he was deteriorating and had landed on the euthanasia list. The shelter environment had simply become too much for him.

Stephanie stepped up without hesitation and said, “Let’s give him a chance.” So we contacted the shelter, brought him home, and promised him that his story wasn’t over yet.

What we didn’t know then was just how much Captain would become a part of us.

He became our longest foster. He watched dog after dog leave for their forever homes while he stayed behind. He celebrated every adoption, waited patiently, and somehow never stopped believing his day would come.

A few weeks ago, that day finally arrived.

Dr. Holly in Oxford reached out about a wonderful man named Dennis who had recently lost his best friend. The house was too quiet, the days felt too long, and his heart had room for another companion.

They found Captain.

We set up a trial foster, but honestly, it didn’t take long to see what was happening. These two needed each other.

Today, Captain is home.

Not foster home. Not temporary home. Home.

While we’re shedding a few tears over here because this goofy, lovable meatball became one of our own, our hearts are full knowing he finally got what he waited so long for.

From a dog nobody thought would make it out, to a dog who now has his very own person.

This is why we do what we do.

Cori is the absolute sweetest young boy who loves other dogs and is also kid-friendly (just no cats). - He's 1 year old, neutered, up to date on vaccinations, and needs a temporary home while he waits for his future person to find him. Fostering is totally free...you provide the comfy couch and we provide the rest!

🌉On a Friday night, what are your plans? Down a couple bags of treats, chew on a good toy, then snuggle with the nearest person!
⚽What do you look for in a toy - squeaky or bouncy? I love all toys but the tough ones are my fave.
🐶What’s your play style with other dogs? I LOVE a good wrestling match, I'm an extrovert and I keep up with the big dogs.
