Kitten Yoga is almost here! Need a little extra motivation to sign up? These adorable faces are planning to join us at the Tonganoxie Public Library on Tuesday, June 2nd for the event! 🐈🧘

Participants will enjoy a beginner-friendly yoga session led by Aly Evans while kittens roam, play, cuddle, and generally do their best to convince everyone that yoga is secondary to kitten snuggles.

We still have spots available in both the 6PM and 7PM sessions! Registration is required through the library by calling 913-845-3281. The cost is $15 per person, and all proceeds benefit the pets in our care (which includes all of these cuties!)

Kitten Disclaimer: The kittens pictured are expected to attend, but our lineup of furry yoga assistants is always subject to change based on the needs of the kittens. Attendance by any specific kitten cannot be guaranteed.

We can't wait to see you there! 🐾

Just one more sleep until Kit-Tea at Krasnesky Manor for Wayward Cats! 🐾🫖

We're excited to introduce two of our feline friends who will be joining us tomorrow at the historic manor: Azula and Zuka! These beautiful girls will be spending the afternoon meeting guests, soaking up attention, and hoping to find the families they've been waiting for.

If you've been considering adding a cat to your family, Kit-Tea is the perfect opportunity to meet adoptable pets from several local organizations all in one place. Enjoy tea, treats, a beautiful setting, and plenty of wagging tails and happy purrs along the way!

Stop by between Noon and 4PM, say hello to Azula and Zuka, and learn more about all of the wonderful cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies looking for homes. You never know— you might just meet your newest family member. ❤️

We are so excited to join our friends at the historic Krasnesky Manor for Kit-Tea 2026 on Saturday, May 30th from Noon–4PM!

This beloved annual adoption event brings together tea, treats, and dozens of adorable adoptable pets all in one beautiful setting. Guests can tour the manor, enjoy tea, participate in a raffle featuring a one-of-a-kind handmade quilt, and spend time meeting many adoptable cats, kittens, dogs, and puppies from local rescue organizations.

This year marks the first Kit-Tea event featuring both cats and dogs available for adoption, making it the perfect opportunity to meet your newest furry family member while supporting animal welfare efforts in our community.

Admission is free, and donations are gladly accepted. All donations and raffle proceeds benefit the Leavenworth Animal Welfare Society, Leavenworth County Humane Society, Kitty Cat Connection, and Leavenworth Animal Control.

We hope you’ll stop by for an afternoon full of sweet treats, wagging tails, tiny toe beans, and second chances!

In observance of Memorial Day, the Leavenworth County Humane Society, Inc. will be closed on Saturday, May 23rd through Monday, May 25th as we pause to honor and remember the brave service members who made the ultimate sacrifice for our country. ❤️🤍💙

While our doors may be closed for the day, our team will still be behind the scenes making sure every tail is wagging, every kennel is clean, and every pet in our care is loved and cared for. We will also remain available to our law enforcement partners.

We hope you all have a safe, restful holiday with the people (and pets!) you love most. We will reopen with our normal hours on Tuesday, May 26th.

NEW TO THE CREW! —

Kobe, Bandit, and Dali (formerly known as Denali) came to us last week from the Humane Society of Atchison. We had a little space (Ludo, Irina, Blu were adopted!) and we know what it's like to be strained. (We also welcomed a few kittens, but they still have a little growing to do before we introduce them!)

Bandit is about 4 years old and his breed is anyone's guess! Golden Retriever? Spaniel? Aussie? We do know that he is 100% good boy. If you’ve ever wanted to welcome sunshine on four legs into your home, Bandit is your guy. He loves bounding after tennis balls and may even alert you to any birds sitting on the fence!

Dali is around 4 months old, so still has lots of growing left to do! We believe he may be a Labrador/Pyrenees/Anatolian mix of some kind, which means he will be a big boy someday. He is full of puppy love and has such a gentle personality. He’s quick to make new friends and even quicker to melt hearts.

Then there's Kobe. This guy has completely stolen our hearts and already spends more time helping behind the front desk than anywhere else in the building. He is about 2 years old and looks to be a Labrador/Pointer mix. Kobe won't bowl you over with affection until he knows you have love to share or a canine friend to play with. Then he opens up and shows his goofy side.

All three of these boys are sweet as pie, friendly as can be, and ready to meet you today! Adoption applications can be submitted in person during business hours or online here: https://bit.ly/3t1k8ZN
