Happy Labor Day! Today we celebrate the hard work and dedication of people in every field—teachers, healthcare workers, first responders, tradespeople, and so many others who keep our communities strong.

We also want to shine a little extra light on those working for animals. To all of the shelter staff and volunteers, veterinarians and vet techs, animal control officers and SO many more- your compassion and hard work make a world of difference every single day!

The Leavenworth County Humane Society will be closed to the public from Saturday, August 30th until Monday, September 1st in observance of Labor Day.

Don’t worry— over the weekend our team will still be here making sure all of our animals are well cared for and we are always available to our law enforcement partners! ❤️

We’ll be back at our usual business hours on Tuesday, September 2nd from 12PM - 6PM. Thank you for your understanding, and we hope everyone enjoys a safe holiday weekend! 🐾

These two sweet babies were picked up earlier today (8/26) near the intersection of Desoto and Mary Streets in Lansing, KS. If you have any information about these puppies or where they may have came from, please contact the Lansing Police Department by calling (913)-727-3000 and reference case number #25-1639.

You may also contact us here at LCHS, Inc. by calling (913)-250-0506 or emailing us at [email protected]. Any information given to us can remain anonymous.

If no one comes forward, these babies will serve their mandatory stray hold and be made available for adoption after they have been vetted and altered. Adoption applications will not be reviewed until all stray and medical holds have been lifted.

These two were brought to us on Monday, 8/25 after being picked up earlier in the morning around the intersection of Hickory Trail and 4H Road in Lansing. KS. Both are safe and unharmed. If you know these two or where they belong, please contact the Lansing Police Department by calling (913)-727-3000 and reference case number #25-1627. Proof of ownership is required to reclaim and you must go through the City of Lansing to begin that process.
