✨Rehab Patient Spotlight!✨

Meet Pommy, our brave little warrior! 🐾Pommy presented to Fusion for bilateral hind limb mobility, bilateral hip osteoarthritis, and a history of MPL (medial patella luxation) repair.

He has been attending formal rehab therapy with our team since the beginning of July. Pommy has lost weight and is showing signs of overall improvement. With the help of formal rehab therapy, he’s been making incredible strides towards recovery. From soothing massages to engaging exercises and even the underwater treadmill, Pommy is showing signs of improvement every day.

While he still has a journey ahead, we’re so proud of his progress! 💪✨ Let’s cheer him on!

🎓 Fetching Diplomas with Fusion! 🎓

Featured this week are Digby and Teddy! And no, you're not seeing double...we're convinced these guys are twins that were separated at birth!

Congratulations to these handsome fellas!

Digby faced his challenges head on following his TTA revision surgery and made steps in the right direction while recovering. Most, if not all, of his rehab sessions you would find Digby snoozing away after his massages from Renee or enjoying snacks from Jasmine.

The ever-so stoic Teddy has been a champ during his recovery and really shined during his rehab sessions! We're so happy to watch how he has improved over the course of his healing! We're pawsitive he's happy that his rehab days will now be spent at home snoozing away!

We're already missing these guys and wish them only the best as they continue the road to full recovery!

Every patient is different and our rehabilitation department at Fusion Veterinary Orthopedics takes a patient-specific approach to each case.

The reason behind rehab is easy: it helps alter the healing process to speed up tissue healing and allow for more complete tissue healing. In patients that have undergone surgery, rehabilitation not only helps facilitate healing, but allows for an outlet of energy during the exercise restriction period. In addition, rehabilitation will help keep the tissues healthy and flexible to minimize re-injury or soft tissue strains once your pet goes back to normal activity.

There are an abundance of steps taken that lead up to your pet's surgical procedure. From the moment they walk in our doors to their very last follow-up visit, there are many moving parts that occur in between.

Those bigger steps your pet will partake in would range from undergoing a consultation, receiving a treatment plan, and getting scheduled for their procedure. Next steps would involve having an anesthesia protocol created, undergoing surgery, recovering from surgery, and discussing post-surgery discharge instructions.

Then there are those smaller steps in between, the ones that may not seem worth mentioning but play a role in ensuring that the whole process moves along smoothly. These often entail your pet getting vitals, having an IV catheter placed, being shaved and prepped for surgery, have pre and post operative radiographs taken, receiving overnight treatments, and filling their post-surgery medications.

Each and every step plays a vital role in providing the best possible outcome to ensuring your pet's comfort and a smooth road to recovery. We pride ourselves on the care we take with even the smallest of tasks, every moment matters.
