Bentley understood the assignment 🎓🐾

From struggling with discomfort to getting back to tail wags, playtime, and feeling like himself again — Bentley’s journey has been nothing short of inspiring. Stories like his are exactly why we do what we do. 💙

Thank you to Bentley’s family for trusting our team throughout his recovery journey. Watching our patients regain their strength, confidence, and happiness is the greatest reward of all. And let’s be honest… Bentley looks pretty proud of himself too 🥹✨

A torn ACL in dogs is more common than many pet owners realize 🐾

In pets, this injury is called a cranial cruciate ligament (CCL) tear — and it can lead to pain, limping, knee instability, and difficulty staying active. Without proper treatment, it may also increase the risk of arthritis and long-term mobility issues.

The good news? With the right treatment plan and rehabilitation, many dogs can return to living happy, active lives again. For the dogs that are not surgical candidates we can create patient specific conservative plans. 💙

If your dog is suddenly limping or struggling to bear weight, don’t ignore the signs — early evaluation can make all the difference. ✨

Meet Tycho 💙🐾

Tycho quickly became one of our favorite familiar faces in rehab! From day one, he showed up ready to work hard and absolutely crushed his underwater treadmill sessions like a total champ. But the best part? He never entered the treadmill without his beloved ducky safely in his mouth 🦆🥹

His mom shared that Tycho even brings his special duck along for car rides too, making it his official comfort buddy wherever he goes. Watching him confidently strut through rehab with his duck in tow was the perfect reminder that healing can still be full of personality, comfort, and joy.

We are so proud of this sweet boy and loved being part of his rehabilitation journey! 💦🐶

Problem: A 1 year old 4 kg dog with multi-directional patella laxity and clinical signs; work up reveals normal femoral and tibial alignment; however, the trochlear groove is shallow and the width of the groove is narrower than the patella. This patient would luxate both medial and lateral with stifle (knee) extension.

Solution: 1) Consider deepening the groove; however, given how narrow it was compared to the patella it would be tough both widen and deepen the groove and the dog be comfortable; 2) Consider a groove replacement; however, in such a young dog with good cartilage in the groove this could be considered but would be a definitive solution with no future options (aside from a TKR); 3) Consider a trochlear ridge prothesis (TRP); this is a 3D printed patient specific implant that allows us to control the width and depth and allows for a groove replacement later down the road if needed

After discussion with colleagues, a TRP was elected. Using Clever Joint in Italy; the CT scan was used to create a bone model and a cutting guide. In addition they 3D printed custom implants for the patient.

The procedure is very straightforward and easy. The dog did have a "hockey stick" like distal femoral confirmation which created some challenges; however, we were able to get the implants placed a little more proximal where we wanted them to prevent the luxation.

Post operatively the patella is stable and not luxating. As far as we aware this is the first time this implant has been used in the Untied States. At Fusion Veterinary Orthopedics, we not only innovate, but push the boundaries to provide the best care to our patients.

🎓🐾 All smiles for our graduate, Chloe!

From day one, Chloe showed us what determination (and a love for treats 🍪) can do. Her sweet personality, eagerness to learn, and unwavering focus made every rehab session a joy to be part of.

Whether she was mastering exercises or staying motivated for her next reward, Chloe brought heart into everything she did—and it truly paid off. 💛

We’re so proud of how far she’s come and can’t wait to see her continue to thrive at home. Congratulations Chloe, you’re officially a rehab champ! 🎉

Strong, sweet, and steady—Finn conquered rehab the gentle way!

Finn’s rehab journey has truly been one for the books! This sweet Labrador Retriever stole our hearts from the very first day he walked through our doors. Calm, gentle, and incredibly patient, Finn made every session a joy. He never fussed or whined—he simply trusted the process and our team every step of the way.
One of the most special parts of Finn’s journey was the instant bond he formed with Renee. From day one, it was clear these two were meant to be the perfect rehab duo! Whether it was working hard during therapy or just sharing quiet, comforting moments, Finn always brought a sense of peace and positivity into the room.
Watching Finn grow stronger and more confident with each visit has been such a rewarding experience for all of us. His sweet nature and loving spirit made a lasting impression, and we are beyond proud of how far he’s come. Finn, you will be deeply missed, but we know you’re off to continue living your very best life!
