Today holds immense historical significance as it marks the day when news of the Emancipation Proclamation reached the last enslaved individuals in Texas—two and a half years after it was signed.

Juneteenth celebrates the resilience, freedom, and achievements of African Americans while serving as a powerful reminder of the ongoing struggle for equality and justice.

💊🐶 Giving Your Pet a Pill? Let’s Talk Treats! 🐱💊

We know getting pets to take medication isn’t always easy — but what you hide that pill in really matters!

🚫 While cheese and peanut butter are common go-tos, they can actually cause more harm than good for some pets:

🔸 High fat content can trigger digestive upset or even pancreatitis, especially in sensitive pets.
🔸 Dairy can cause issues in lactose-intolerant animals.
🔸 Hidden ingredients like xylitol in peanut butter can be toxic.

Royal Canin Pill Assist is a vet-approved, palatable treat made specifically for safe, stress-free pill-giving:

🐾 Designed to mold around the pill
🐾 Gentle on sensitive stomachs
🐾 No harmful additives

Make medication time a treat — the right kind of treat! 🐾

🐝🌸 Happy Pollinator Week! 🌸🐝

Did you know that pollinators like bees, butterflies, and hummingbirds don’t just help flowers bloom — they play a huge role in the health of our pets too?

🐶🥕 Many of the fruits, veggies, and herbs that are healthy for animals are made possible by pollinators. From antioxidant-rich blueberries for dogs to crunchy carrots for bunnies — we owe a lot to these tiny workers.

🐱🌼 Plus, pollinator-friendly gardens can create safe, enriching outdoor spaces for cats, dogs, and other animals to explore — filled with natural scents, textures, and sounds.

This Pollinator Week, join us in celebrating the buzzing, fluttering friends who help keep our world — and our pets — healthy! 🌍💚

That feeling when the weekend winds down and Monday looms large... yeah, we feel it too! Whether it's work stress, family obligations, household chores, or just the end of a slower pace, the Sunday Scaries are real.

🐾 Alice is here as a reminder: your pet doesn’t care what day it is — they just care about you. A cuddle, a walk, or a game of fetch can help bring you back to the moment.

✨ Breathe deep. Give your furry friend an extra snuggle. Tomorrow’s worries can wait — right now, you're exactly where you're supposed to be.

MICROCHIP AWARENESS MONTH 🐶

Here are a few important reasons to microchip your pet:

Permanent ID – Unlike collars or tags that can fall off or be removed, a microchip provides a reliable, permanent way to identify your pet.

Faster Reunions – If your pet gets lost, shelters and vets can scan the chip and contact you quickly—getting your furry friend back home faster.

Proof of Ownership – A registered microchip can help prove ownership if your pet is stolen or found by someone else.

Travel & Vet Records – Some countries require microchips for travel, and they can be linked to medical records at vet clinics.

Peace of Mind – Knowing your pet has extra protection if they ever get lost gives you greater confidence and peace of mind.

🎉🐾 Happy International Corgi Day! 🐾🎉

Let’s take a moment to celebrate the pint-sized pups with BIG personalities—Corgis! 💛

Did you know?

🐶 Corgis were originally bred to herd cattle—don’t let those short legs fool you!
👑 Queen Elizabeth II had over 30 Corgis during her reign—true royal companions!
💡 There are two breeds: Pembroke Welsh Corgi (with a docked tail) and Cardigan Welsh Corgi (with a long tail).
🦊 Their fluffy butts and fox-like faces make them social media royalty—and we totally get it. 😍

Celebrate today by sharing your favorite corgi pics, fun facts, or simply giving your corgi an extra treat (or five). 🦴🐕

📸 Drop your corgi photos in the comments and let’s fill this feed with short-legged joy!

🐾 June is Foster a Pet Month! 🐾

Every year, thousands of animals enter shelters waiting for a second chance. Fostering gives them the love, safety, and socialization they need until they find their forever homes. 💕

✨ When you foster, you’re not just helping one pet—you’re opening space in shelters for others in need.

Whether it’s a weekend, a few weeks, or longer—you can change a life. 🏡🐶🐱

Ready to be a hero? Contact your local shelter or rescue today and see how you can get involved.

Today, we honor the brave men and women who gave their lives in service to our country — and we also remember the courageous animals who stood beside them. 🐾❤️

Throughout history, dogs have served with unwavering loyalty, protecting, rescuing, and comforting soldiers on and off the battlefield.
Here are just a few of the incredible canine heroes we honor today:

🐾 Stubby – A brave Boston Terrier mix who served in World War I. Stubby warned troops of gas attacks, found wounded soldiers, and even captured an enemy spy — earning the rank of Sergeant!
🐾 Nemo A534 – A Vietnam War hero who, even after being wounded, protected his handler from enemy forces until help arrived.
🐾 Cairo – A Navy SEAL working dog who helped in the mission that led to the capture of Osama bin Laden.
🐾 Lucca – A Marine Corps German Shepherd who served in Iraq and Afghanistan, detecting explosives and saving countless lives. She completed over 400 missions without a single human casualty before retiring with honor.

These remarkable animals remind us of the deep bond between humans and their four-legged companions, even in the most difficult of times.

At VCA we proudly salute all the heroes — furry and human — who have sacrificed so much for our freedom. 🕊️

Today and every day, we remember. 🇺🇸
