Do you have a spooky- chargy- high headed- chomp at the bit- horse?

STOP and allow them to investigate their surroundings! Back away from what scares them. Their fear comes from the unknown. Confidence comes from knowing.

Horses that are worried are hurried!

Everything is an obstacle to a horse. If they have to march on to get over what bothers them, chances are they won't.

Have you ever seen a stick lying on the ground and thought it was a snake? What if someone said, "keep going, never mind it", and didn't give you the chance to stop and take a closer look. How would you feel about your situation, and that person?

Jewels was a shut down horse, yet very high in self preservation. In her early training she was never given a chance to be aware of, and investigate, her world.

That has all changed, and now, so has she.

Calie and Legacy had a weekend learning trip. I've felt guilty about not spending as much time with them lately. It's funny how we go to our trainers/mentors to teach our horses and come away with life lessons that help you grow as an individual which in turn helps your horse. We are learning new ways to do things and we have to give ourselves and our horses grace as we grow together.

It is so nice to be in a learning environment where I felt comfortable to say that I needed support and was immediately met with how can we help and what do you need.

As a student, I appreciate Nancy Slater at Nancy Slater Natural Horsemanship immensely for her desire to continue educating herself to grow and develop.

Today was the first actual riding lesson Ive done and there was such clear communication and explanations on what I needed to do. Even better was Nancy got off her horse to show me what I could do on the ground to help me in the saddle.

And since us horse girls like to do things together. Shout out to my village Krystal Showalter Jessica Showalter
