I really need some help. I’m trying to find a temporary foster home for my 22-year-old African Grey parrot.

She was my dad’s bird, and when he passed away, I took responsibility for her. She’s one of the last connections I have to him, and I do not want to lose her permanently.

Right now, I’m homeless and unable to keep her with me while also trying to manage my dogs and everything else going on. I’m looking for someone experienced with birds/parrots who would be willing to foster her temporarily. I will provide/pay for her food and help clean/maintain her cage when possible.

She does not need to be handled much. She was truly my dad’s bird and is very much a “one-person” parrot. She’s not mean or aggressive — she just chooses who she likes. She talks, mimics sounds, calls the dogs, and has little conversations with herself. She’s honestly comforting background noise.

She has lived around cats before and isn’t afraid of them, but because of that she would need supervision around them.

African Greys are incredibly intelligent and not beginner birds, so I’d really prefer someone with bird or parrot experience.

I’m happy to answer questions or send pictures. I’ve lost so much already, and I’m just trying not to lose this last piece of my dad too.

Please message me if you can help or know someone who can.

I just wanted to take a moment to say thank you to everyone who has reached out with love, support, and kind messages—I truly appreciate it more than I can put into words. ❤️
I’m sorry I haven’t responded yet. I needed to take a couple of mental health days to disconnect and reset, but please know I’m not ignoring anyone. I’ll be getting back to you all throughout the weekend.
Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, for being there for me through all of this. It means everything. 💕

GROOMING , A BEACH PARK ANIMAL HOSPITAL BY JENNIFER , IS CLOSED , PERMANENTLY AND FOREVER SEE BELOW:

Dr. Abraham and Alicia just told me they no longer want grooming at Beach Park animal hospital. It's too much of an issue on their plumbing. Dr. Abraham also told me that they are vets.Office not a grooming salon, It's not a revenue stream for them. So I was just told that I lost my grooming job yet again. I am longer grooming unless I'm doing your dog at your house, and unfortunately, that only applies to half of my clients and I'm extremely extremely sorry for that.
I'm also extremely extremely sorry for the past year and a 1/2, and thank you all for sticking with me through the ups and Downs, I will miss you all and all of your dog.I love your dogs like they're my own.Thank you for everything

✂️ About Booking Appointments ✂️

I am typically unable to answer the phone between 8 AM – 3 PM, as I do not answer calls while actively working on a dog. Your pets have my full attention and safety comes first.

Please leave a voicemail and/or send a follow-up text message. I promise I will return your call or message as soon as I have a break.

If you call and don’t leave a message, I unfortunately have no way of knowing who tried to reach me — and I don’t want to miss anyone!

Thank you all so much for your patience, understanding, and continued support. I truly appreciate each and every one of you. 💕

📣 Important Update – Please Read 📣

First, I want to sincerely apologize to anyone who has had a hard time reaching me recently. I’ve been dealing with unexpected cell phone issues and was unaware that some calls and messages were not coming through.

The issue has now been resolved, but it did require me to get a new phone number.

📱 You can now call or text 224-763-1445 to schedule grooming appointments.

If for any reason you have trouble reaching me at that number, please call the animal hospital directly and let the girls know. That will help me identify and fix any issues much faster.

📢 2Pac PSA (That’s “Two-Paw-c,” not the rapper… but he’d agree)

Part 1: Leash Laws Are Not Suggestions

In Lake County, Illinois, dogs are required to be on a 4–6 ft leash and under the control of their owner when out in public.
The only exception? Clearly marked areas that say otherwise (like a dog park).

Your neighborhood = leash required
“Don’t worry, he’s friendly” = not a leash
Dragging leash = not under control

Here’s the hard truth:

If your off-leash or out-of-control dog approaches a dog that is properly leashed — and that leashed dog reacts (because maybe it was attacked before, is in training, elderly, nervous, recovering, etc.) — you are responsible for any damage that happens.

Yes, even if your dog is “nice.”
Yes, even if “he’s never done that before.”
Yes, even if you’re shocked.

Animal Control doesn’t run on vibes. They run on control of the dog — and off-leash = not in control.

Part 2: Help Reactive Dogs (and Their Humans) Out

If you see a dog that is:
• barking
• lunging
• clearly overwhelmed
• or an owner who looks like they’re managing a lot

👉 Create space. Immediately.

Move away. Cross the street. Change direction. Keep it moving.

What doesn’t help:
• Slowing down
• Staring
• Letting your dog stare
• “They just want to say hi!”

In dog language, hard staring is basically the equivalent of “fight me.”
So when your dog locks eyes and you just stand there? You’re accidentally escalating the situation.

That other owner may be working SO hard to help their dog feel safe. Distance is their biggest tool. You giving them space isn’t rude — it’s supportive.

Bottom line:
Leashes keep dogs safe.
Distance helps struggling dogs succeed.
And not every dog you see is on their “meeting new friends” journey that day.

Let’s make walks less stressful and keep everybody’s dogs happy & heathy 🐾

Hi all!

I wanted to sincerely apologize for being hard to reach lately, for any cancellations, and for not being my usual dependable self. I’ve been going through a really difficult time — I’ve been without stable housing and working on finding a safe place for myself and my dogs. Things are finally starting to settle a bit, and I’m hoping to get back on track.

If you’d still like to schedule a grooming appointment for your pup, please let me know and I’ll send over my availability. I truly appreciate your understanding and patience during this time. ❤️
