The Little Red Dog, Inc A 501 c3 Non Profit dedicated to saving animal lives, education and animal welfare in Orange Co, CA. Our
primary goal is to get them into loving homes.
(283)

Dogs are man's best friend, but it is not always the other way
around. The Little Red Dog was founded in memory of a little red
American Pit Bull Terrier who did not make it. If you are familiar
with the Michael Vick dog fighting case chronicled in The Lost Dogs: Michael Vick's Dogs and Their Tale of Rescue and Redemption. The Little Red Dog was brutally beaten to death by Vick and his cronies

because she had the audacity to not to want
to fight. The Little Red Dog fights for all the dogs, red, blue, tan, white, brown, black and all colors in between. We do not discriminate against ANY breed; that's
because we are a real rescue, and we will help as many animals as we can. Our hope that some day all of
them make it out, but most of all, we will never forget the Little Red Dog and
many others who did not.

Effie had never been an inside dog. She lived her life in a yard, never knowing when her next meal would come, never seeing a vet, and never being groomed. She was forgotten, neglected—but not anymore. 🐾⁣

Today, Effie is a beloved member of a family. She has a warm bed, regular meals, vet care, and most importantly—love. ❤️⁣

This is what your support does. We wouldn’t have been able to help Effie without YOU.⁣

If you can't foster or adopt, please consider donating. Your support helps dogs like Effie get the second chance they’ve always dreamed of.⁣

Kai was found as a stray, navigating the streets all alone. Since being rescued, this sweet shepherd mix has been slowly learning to trust again. He’s still a bit timid, but his tail starts to wag when he sees humans he recognizes 🧡

Currently in boarding, Kai has been non-reactive to the dogs he’s met and continues to show signs of being a gentle, thoughtful companion.

He’s looking for a calm, patient home that can offer him stability, kindness, and a fresh start.

✨ Kai at a glance:
• 3 years old, ~40 lbs
• Shepherd mix
• Shy at first, but warms up with familiar faces
• Non-reactive to other dogs so far
• Would do best in a quiet, low-traffic home
• Thrives with routine, gentle structure, and affection
• A loyal heart just waiting for the right person to trust

📍 Currently in Southern California and ready for his second chance.

📩 Fill out an application to foster or adopt Kai and help him write his next chapter.

🌞 Looking for a summer workout buddy? Meet Chloe! 🐾💪Chloe is 3.5 years old pug mix, 31 lbs, and full of potential. Adopted in 2023 and recently returned, she’s looking for a second chance — and a friend to help her get back in shape (she’s gained a little weight and is ready to feel her best again!).

✨ Loyal, smart, and full of personality
✨ Needs a patient, confident leader
✨ Chloe did live with a bunny so likely is ok with cats. She would need correcting if she gets too playful.
✨ Can be reactive on walks and needs someone who won’t let strangers or other dogs rush her just because she’s cute (we get it — she is adorable)

We know the right person is out there for her. Could it be you?

📩 Located in Southern California. Apply to learn more or apply to adopt!

🗓️ June 16–22 is Animal Rights Awareness Week 🐾

This week, we’re taking time to speak up for those who can’t speak for themselves. 💬❤️

Animal Rights Awareness Week is about more than compassion — it’s about action. Whether it’s standing against cruelty, promoting adoption, supporting better legislation, or choosing kindness in our everyday lives, every voice matters in the fight for animal rights.

At The Little Red Dog, we believe all animals deserve:
🐾 A life free from abuse and neglect
🐾 Proper medical care and shelter
🐾 The chance to be loved and understood
🐾 A voice — and someone to fight for them

✨ HOW YOU CAN HELP:
✅ Adopt or foster
✅ Volunteer with us
✅ Donate to help the animals in our care
✅ Speak out against cruelty
✅ Educate others

Together, we can build a world where every animal is treated with dignity, respect, and love. 💛

🌟 In Loving Memory of Jesse. After 10 beautiful, love-filled years with her family, sweet girl Jesse made her journey to the stars. 💫

Adoringly known as Messy Jesse, she was truly one of a kind. With her wiry coat and sweet little underbite, she stood out not just in looks, but in spirit.

We first met Jesse at the shelter when she was just a tiny puppy—very sick with parvo and pneumonia. But she was a fighter, a true survivor. Jesse showed her strength from the very beginning. She became the beginning of the road to rescue for her mom , and from that day forward, she was part of the family. ❤️🐾

Jesse grew into the heart of her home. She was there for every hike, every road trip, every family gathering. She wasn’t just included—she was in the center of it all.

She even joined her mom at school to teach students about the importance of rescue and adoption, becoming a voice for those who couldn’t speak. A true ambassador, Jesse helped shine a light on the beauty of second chances.

She was an incredible sister to both her human and four-legged siblings, and was celebrated daily for the joy and light she brought into our lives. Jesse was joyful, vocal, loving, and full of personality. She talked, she sang, and she smiled like she knew just how deeply she was loved.

Recently, Jesse was diagnosed with cancer. Even through her illness, her spirit never dimmed. She loved life—and life loved her right back. We will miss you more than words can ever say, Jesse. We love you, always. 🌈💛🐶
