**UPDATE**
Winnie has been returned to his original rescue Gunter's Legacy Animal Rescue, Inc., and is available for adoption.
This is not a reflection on any issues with Winnie, he's a dog in transition and adjusting well, he just needed the right foster. Once we figured that out, it seemed right to allow them to keep him.

Please help us welcome… wait for it… wait for it… WINNIE!
And, surprise this Winnie is a boy! 💙
Winnie's beloved "humom" passed away, leaving him heartbroken. A friend of hers stepped up to care for him, but after a short time, she considered having him euthanized. Thankfully, the vet refused and reached out to my sister’s rescue for help.
After a few weeks, it became clear that Winnie would thrive best in a home where he could get more one-on-one attention. That’s when I thought of a wonderful friend who had recently lost her own Shih Tzu. Though still mourning, she understood exactly what Winnie was going through — and graciously opened her heart and home to foster him.
Winnie is 12 years young and full of life! He lives for toys, belly rubs, and especially treats — this boy has a serious snack obsession. He’s also got that signature Shih Tzu sass and had his new foster home wrapped around his paw in less than 24 hours.
He’s house-trained, walks well on a leash, and is just an all-around fantastic pup.
Winnie does require daily eye medication for those big, beautiful peepers and pain meds for arthritis, but he doesn’t let any of that slow him down.
