The Kokomo Humane Society is an open admission shelter with contracts for animal control services with the city of Kokomo and Howard County. We provide sheltering for all animals received, adoption services, humane education, and volunteer opportunities.

Another happy adoption through our Paws Forward Program kennel sponsorship! 🐾💕

Morty has officially found his forever home and is now living his best life with his new family! 🐶✨ We are so happy to see him starting this new chapter filled with love and care.

This kennel was sponsored by Lynne K. in loving memory of Gracie & Scout. Gracie was adopted from KHS in 2012, and both beloved dogs passed away in December 2024. 💙

With Morty’s adoption, this becomes the second adoption made possible through Lynne’s sponsorship.

Having recently arrived at the shelter, Dakota is still a bit nervous and figuring out his new surroundings. We’ve already discovered that treats are the way to his heart, and with a little time and patience, he’ll continue to gain confidence. It may take a few visits for him to fully warm up, but we believe he’s worth the effort!

🐾☀️ Our Sunday Funday was absolutely beautiful! Our canine residents enjoyed plenty of playtime, fresh air, and fun with their furry friends yesterday.

Playgroups are an important part of shelter life, helping dogs build confidence, practice positive social skills, burn energy, and stay mentally and physically healthy while they wait for their forever homes. 💙

A huge thank you to our amazing volunteers who help make days like this possible by walking, socializing, and caring for our dogs. Your dedication ensures our pups get the love, enrichment, and attention they deserve. We couldn’t do it without you! 🐕🐾
