WFRS will be starting a Lupron drive to wrap up the summer here in the Pacific Northwest! We have a lot of babies who need to grow back some fur before the long winter ❄️. We will be posting pictures of ferrets currently in need of sponsors over the next few days. Sponsorship is $15 a month for 6 months. This will enable us to ensure that all of our ferrets have the medication they need to treat their adrenal disease.

When our new 8-year-old surrender Elsa arrived malnourished and overrun with ear mites. She was unable to walk without trembling and collapsing onto her side. She was immediately evaluated by Dr. Holly, and X-rays revealed a previously broken leg that had fused to an adjacent bone.

It is difficult to comprehend the immense pain Elsa must have endured while suffering through this injury without care. Due to the severity and chronic nature of her injury, combined with Elsa’s age, malnutrition, and overall condition, surgical correction is not a safe or realistic option for her. Instead, her care will be focused on keeping her comfortable and managing her ongoing needs.

Ferrets like Elsa are why your support matters so much. WFRS cannot continue providing life-saving care for Elsa and surrenders like her without the resources needed for their advanced medical treatment and lifelong support. Please consider donating or becoming a monthly member. Together, we can ensure that residents like Elsa continue to have the care they deserve.

WFRS DOES NOT ADOPT OUT OF STATE...

There has been an increased demand for WFRS to adopt ferrets out of state as a result of recent shelter closures across the Pacific Northwest. However, WFRS cannot and does not facilitate out-of-state adoptions.

Adoptions to our neighboring states require veterinary examinations, health certificates, proof of vaccination, and other time-sensitive documentation. These requirements create additional costs and administrative responsibilities that are beyond our resources.

Our adoption contracts also require that any ferret adopted from our rescue be returned to WFRS if the adopter is ever unable to keep it. Ensuring compliance with this lifetime return policy becomes significantly more difficult when adopters reside outside Washington.

For these legal, financial, and logistical reasons, WFRS only adopts ferrets to Washington residents. We appreciate the interest from prospective adopters outside our state and encourage them to work with rescues and shelters located within their state.

Murphy went to go see Dr Holly yesterday to have a recently discovered lump evaluated. I'm afraid the news wasn't what we had hoped for. Murphy very likely has cancer. She also identified what we think is a large cyst.

We were so honored! Ronda Smith had Natasha's new owner pick her up at the photo shoot! It was a wonderful time to start a new family ❤️ We hope to keep seeing Natasha in the future.
