Please make sure your pets are protected!

The Preston County Health Department is reporting a second case of laboratory-confirmed rabies for 2025. A racoon and dog encounter occurred on August 26, 2025 in the Bruceton area. The Health Department encourages you to make sure your cats and dogs are vaccinated by 6 months of age with a booster within 1 year of the initial vaccination and then every 3 years thereafter per WV Code §19-20A-2. Do not approach wild animals. If an exposure does happen seek medical attention immediately. If your pet is attacked by a wild animal, wear protective gloves if you must handle your animal and follow up with your veterinarian as needed.

Before and after a dental cleaning! Our pets can't brush their own teeth so it is up to us as owners to take care of their dental health. Tartar builds up on their teeth and can cause bad breath, gingivitis, dental disease, infection, and even organ function issues. We just want to let everyone know that the NCWV Veterinary Emergency Clinic will be closed due to renovations August 18th, 19 th, 20th, 25th, 26th, 27th, and 28th. If your pet has an emergency the closest hospitals are Cheat Lake animal hospital, MedVet, A Vets, PVSEC, or VEG.
