A True Miracle: Chance’s 100% Cellulitis Recovery! 🐴❤️✨

Ten days ago, a quiet Saturday turned into an absolute emergency here at the rescue. One of our most beloved senior residents, Chance, suddenly presented with a high fever and severe swelling in his rear leg. Over a stressful 4 to 6 hours, the swelling ballooned to the size of a fence post, and it was heartbreakingly clear how much pain our sweet "vintage model" was enduring.

Dr. McCleery from McCleery Equine Veterinary Service rushed to the rescue and immediately got to work. Together, we jumped right into cold hosing, running critical labs, and starting immediate medications to get him stabilized. The official diagnosis was cellulitis.

The last 10 days have required intense, round-the-clock dedication. We strictly followed a heavy protocol of IV and oral medications, carefully rotating Chance between stall rest, leg wrapping, and dedicated cold hosing sessions.

We owe an immense debt of gratitude to Alex Blackwood, who selflessly stepped in to completely manage Chance's intensive injection schedule—and kept our team's emotional stability intact through some very long, worried hours! 🙏😭

Today, we are completely relieved, incredibly thankful, and overjoyed to share that Chance has made a 100% recovery! He is officially back to feeling feisty, showing off his youthful spirit, and enjoying this gorgeous fall weather in the pasture. 🌾🍂

A massive, heartfelt thank you to Dr. McCleery for her exceptional, swift medical care, to Alex for being an absolute lifesaver, and to our incredible community for sending so many positive thoughts and prayers our way. Your support keeps us going every single day!

Giveaway has ended! Congratulations to Gail Goldberg and Amanda Green for being the two winners! I’ve messaged both of you to get the final details to confirm your timeslots.

Thank you to everyone who participated!!! This may be my first event giveaway but it won’t be my last! Stay tuned for more fun things coming soon!

(Some entries had to be skipped due to sudden changes in weekend availability. This is a lovely time to thank all the essential workers in your life because they make sacrifices like these all the time!)

**ENDS AT 11:59PM TONIGHT 10/20!**

It’s GIVEAWAY TIMEEE! Starting now and ending Tuesday (10/20) at 11:59pm, comment a photo of your furbaby ON THIS POST (click this image to guarantee you're in the right spot! Comments on shared posts may not be entered) to enter to win a FREE timeslot for this coming weekend’s fall photo event! Vote for each other by liking each other’s comments! The photo comment with the most likes will win the prize. This is crossposted on Instagram and Facebook, so I will honor one winner from each platform! That means TWO chances to win if you comment on both posts! Tag your friends! Here are some pics of my furbabies Tiger and Piper (my favorite models.) They both wish you the best of luck!!!
You can share this post to boost your chances, however only comments on the original post will be eligible.

*To be eligible, you must be free either Saturday 10/24 or Sunday 10/25 to attend the event at Twisted Oaks Rescue in Keystone Heights. This prize can be used to book any of my open 30-minute timeslots, meaning you cannot pick a time that has already been chosen by someone else. This prize has no cash value. Prize waives the fees associated with the session and gives you your digital images, but does not cover printed photos. You must fill out the signup form and confirm your time when you are confirmed as the winner. If you are no longer available during any of the open timeslots, I will choose the next runner up as the new winner. The same person cannot win both prizes, so if that does happen the runner up with the most votes, regardless of the platform, will win the second prize.*
